China Art Museum is a plastic art museum focusing on collecting, researching and displaying the works of modern Chinese artists. The museum displays paintings, sculptures, handicrafts and other art works, which can be called the treasure house of art.
The museum has a collection of nearly 70000 pieces of art works, mainly from the period before and after the founding of new China, as well as the masterpieces of artists from the Qing Dynasty and the late Ming Dynasty. Among them, Qi Baishi has 410 works. In addition, Shi Tao, Xu Gu, Ren Bonian, Wu Changshuo, Huang Binhong, Xu Beihong, Liu Haisu, Fu Baoshi, Pan Tianshou, Li Keran, Jiang Zhaohe, Wu Guanzhong and other famous artists' works, as well as a large number of representative works of famous Chinese artists and award-winning works in major art exhibitions have been collected.
There are also dozens of collections of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, New Year pictures, paper-cut, toys, shadow puppets, painted sculptures, performance tools, puppets, kites, folk paintings, embroidery and other folk art products. In addition, there are many overseas artworks, including those from Europe and Africa.
China Art Museum
Located in Wusi street, Dongcheng District, Beijing, China Art Museum, founded in 1958, is one of the top ten buildings in the 10th anniversary of the founding of the people's Republic of China. It covers an area of more than 30000 square meters, with a building area of 17051 square meters and an exhibition hall area of 6000 square meters. Its main building is an antique attic style, with a large yellow glazed tile roof and surrounded by corridors and pavilions. The China Art Museum has a collection of more than 100000 pieces of modern art works and folk art works, mainly from the period before and after the founding of new China, as well as the masterpieces of artists in the early period of the people's Republic of China, the Qing Dynasty and the late Ming Dynasty. Among them, Qi Baishi alone has 410 pieces. In addition to collecting, keeping, displaying and researching excellent modern Chinese art works and folk art works, the museum also undertakes the tasks of organizing various types of exhibitions of Chinese and foreign art works, conducting academic exchanges of domestic and foreign art, establishing historical materials and art archives of modern Chinese art, and publishing collections of paintings and theoretical works.

Development history
In 1958, the construction of the China Art Museum began and was completed in 1962. In 1963, Chairman Mao Zedong inscribed the number of "China Art Museum" and officially opened it.
In 1995, a new modern collection library with an area of 4100 square meters was built.
In May 2002, the renovation project of the main building of China Art Museum began. Completed in May 2003, the exhibition hall facilities, lighting, building automation, constant temperature and humidity, fire alarm, safety monitoring system have reached the domestic leading level. On July 23, the 40th anniversary of the founding of the museum, the China Art Museum reopened.
In 2005, the second phase of the expansion project of China Art Museum started. The second phase of the project, with an investment of nearly 600 million yuan, was approved by the State Council. 1.8 hectares of land was expropriated from the West for the second phase of the expansion project, and about 40000 square meters of new Museum was built, which is 1.5 times the area of the old one.
On December 7, 2019, the China Art Museum and the National Museum of Lichtenstein signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Beijing. The two sides will work together to promote excellent culture

Venue layout
The main building of China Art Museum covers an area of 22379 square meters There are 20 exhibition halls on the first to fifth floors, with a total exhibition area of 7000 square meters and a total exhibition line of 2110 meters. There are 9 exhibition halls on the first floor, 3 small exhibition halls on the first and second floors, with a total exhibition area of 4305 square meters and a total exhibition line of 1400 meters; there are 5 exhibition halls on the second floor, with a total exhibition area of 1500 square meters and a total exhibition line of 429 meters; there are 3 exhibition halls on the third floor, with a total exhibition area of 863 square meters and a total exhibition line of 429 meters It's 235 meters long.
Collection works
The Museum of art of China has a collection of more than 100000 pieces of art works, mainly from the period before and after the founding of new China, as well as the masterpieces of artists in the late Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. The collection mainly includes modern fine arts, representative works of famous contemporary Chinese artists, award-winning works of major art exhibitions, and folk art works. Among the collections are the works of Ren Bonian, Wu Changshuo, Huang Binhong, Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Jiang Zhaohe, situ Qiao, Li Keran, Wu Zuoren, ye Qianyu, Luo Gongliu, Wu Guanzhong and other artists. The collection includes dozens of categories, such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, folk art, etc. They include new year pictures, paper cuts, toys, shadow puppets, painted sculptures, performance tools, puppets, kites, folk paintings, embroidery and other folk art products. Among the collections in the museum, the German collectors Ludwig and his wife donated 117 European and American International artworks, including 4 Picasso works. This is China's first large-scale collection of Western artworks, as well as hundreds of African wood carvings and other foreign art works.
Special exhibition
China Art Museum has held thousands of influential art exhibitions and works of world famous artists. In addition to the influential national exhibitions, the international exhibitions with greater influence include: the original exhibition of 500 years' famous Hamer paintings in the United States, the 19th century rural landscape painting exhibition in France, the original Picasso paintings exhibition, the German Expressionism Printmaking Exhibition, the Rodin art exhibition, the Chagall art exhibition, the Miro Oriental spiritual art exhibition, and the Austria Art Exhibition National Museum collection exhibition, African art exhibition, Dali art exhibition, French impressionist painting Treasures Exhibition, midsummer France Beijing, 300 years of Russian Art National Museum of fine arts Treasures Exhibition (one of the important exhibitions of 2006 China Russia year), 300 years of American Art: adaptation and innovation "Italian art and Italian life" (one of the important exhibitions of "2006 year of Italy in China)", "from Titian to Goya - Exhibition of art treasures in the Prado Museum" (one of the important exhibitions of "2007 year of Spanish Culture"). The Dunhuang Art Exhibition held in 2008 broke the three records of daily visits, monthly visitors and single exhibition visitors since the establishment of the China Art Museum, receiving 660000 visitors in two months.
Successive leaders
Liu Kaiqu, the first curator, was appointed director of the China Art Museum in 1963.
Yang Lizhou, the second curator, was appointed deputy curator of China Art Museum in 1989 and a member of China Calligrapher Association. From March 1999 to April 2004, he was the curator of the China Art Museum.
Feng Yuan, the third curator, was the curator of China Art Museum from May 2004 to December 2005.
In December 2005, fan was appointed director of the China Art Museum.
In September 2014, Wu Weishan was appointed director of the China Art Museum.
Organization
Library office: responsible for drafting the rules and regulations, reports, requests for instructions, plans, summaries and relevant documents of the comprehensive administrative work of the library. To be responsible for the preparation, organization, minutes and briefing of the curator's meeting, the library affairs meeting, the curator's office meeting and other important meetings, and to complete other tasks assigned by the library leaders.
Party committee office: implement the instructions, resolutions and decisions of the superior party committee, library Party committee and Discipline Inspection Commission. Supervise and inspect the implementation of each party branch. Responsible for drafting all kinds of Party committee and Discipline Inspection Commission documents, meeting minutes, briefing, etc. To be responsible for the preparation and organization of various meetings of the Party committee and the Commission for Discipline Inspection.
Financial department: responsible for formulating the rules and regulations of the library's financial management. To be responsible for organizing the budget preparation of the Department funds and infrastructure funds of the library and the preparation of the year-end final accounts report.
Personnel department: responsible for formulating the rules and regulations of personnel management and talent development plan of the library, and checking, coordinating, supervising and implementing them. Be responsible for the recruitment, assessment, deployment, selection, appointment, professional title evaluation, training and routine rewards and punishments of the staff according to the authority of cadre management.
Research and planning department: responsible for the academic planning and project implementation of the exhibition of traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, print, sculpture, photography, calligraphy, seal cutting, contemporary art and other categories. Responsible for organizing and publishing the exhibition catalogue, works collection, papers collection, literature collection and other publications planned by the museum.
Exhibition Department: responsible for formulating the rules and regulations of the exhibition work of the museum. Responsible for contacting exhibition and preparing exhibition review materials. Responsible for organizing experts to evaluate the exhibition qualification of the Application Exhibition.
Collection department: responsible for the establishment and implementation of the storage system of collection works. To be responsible for the warehousing, classification, disinfection, filing, accounting and warehousing of collected works. Do a good job in the packaging, handover, safety supervision, insurance and other related work when the collection goes out of the warehouse.
The China Art Museum continues to implement the strategy of "opening the door to run the museum". It has formed the Advisory Committee of the China Art Museum, the Art Committee of the China Art Museum, the exhibition planning committee of the China Art Museum, the collection evaluation committee of the China Art Museum, and the exhibition qualification evaluation group of the China Art Museum.
