Shenyang foundry Museum
Shenyang foundry museum is located at No.14, Weigong North Street, Tiexi District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. It was founded in 2007. Based on the original site of Shenyang foundry, it is the largest foundry Museum in China.
The foundry covers an area of 330000 square meters, with the largest number of employees of 5800, the annual maximum output of 38500 tons and the production of more than 10000 kinds of castings. It is the largest foundry enterprise in Asia. Although the foundry museum now covers an area of only 40000 square meters, the main building is 17800 square meters, and has a collection of 1523 casting equipment and castings.
architectural composition
The building near the North Street of Weigong is also a part of the gate. It is designed based on the old factory building. The top of the building is made up of three rectangular huge "iron blocks" with the same color as rust and mixed together like building blocks. On the south side is a wall made of eight layers of tawny glass. On the north side of the wall, there are five raised characters of "foundry Museum" and the logo of the foundry Museum, which is quite embossed. On the top of the building, large characters and brown glass are combined together to present the heavy and nostalgic, modern and artistic atmosphere.
The foundry Museum mainly includes outdoor exhibition hall and indoor exhibition hall. The objects in the outdoor exhibition hall seem to be scattered at random, but in fact they have unique ingenuity. They have the strong atmosphere of industry, such as 30 tons of ingot mold, 13 tons of medium injection pipe, 15 tons of iron baozi, and so on. There is also infinite human tenderness. For example, in front of the factory building on the west side of the compound, there is a huge cast iron tank, half filled with water, and a dozen goldfish swimming in it. It says "cooling tank in the past, fish tank today".
There is also an open "iron book" sculpture in the outdoor exhibition area. The spine of the book is made of cast iron, but the page is made of ten thin copper iron sheets, on which is written "the origin of Tiexi". From the defeat of tsarist Russia in 1904 to June 25, 2007. Tiexi District experienced Japanese colonial plunder, puppet Manchukuo and Kuomintang rule, the establishment of new China and the revitalization of the old industrial base. On the cement floor of the outdoor exhibition area, there are also various shapes of brands, fingerprints, as well as the marks of iron pliers, spanners, screwdrivers and other tools.
The indoor exhibition hall includes "Tiexi Industrial Development Review", "industrial exhibition and art performance" and "Shenyang Tiexi creative industry center". From the gate of foundry museum to the factory yard, on the right side is the exhibition area of "Tiexi Industrial Development Review". As soon as you enter the door, you can see a set of hand-made blue long tables and benches used in the regular pre shift meeting, as well as the steel casting workshop of Shenyang Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. in 1950s, the centrifugal compressor unit of cracking gas, the double in and double out coal mill, the radial drilling machine of Shenyang Zhongjie friendship factory in 73, the gas mask produced by Shenyang Chemical Factory, the Baishan bicycle produced by Shenyang bicycle factory and the Shenyang tractor factory in 92 Shuangma 50 horsepower four-wheel tractor was produced, and the trolley car was produced by Shenyang bus factory in 1999.
In the exhibition area, there are pictures of production and factory areas of various enterprises in the old industrial zone, including Shenyang smelter, Shenyang tractor factory, Shenyang bridge factory, Shenyang high voltage switch factory, etc. On the wall of the old workshop, there is a painting made by a foundry worker in 68 years old. Beside it, there is a notice to find the author, which makes the dignified atmosphere relaxed.
Coming out of the workshop of Tiexi industry retrospective exhibition, there is another workshop on the west side with the sign of "Shenyang Tiexi creative industry center" on the door. After entering, you can only see the tall iron shelves of the workshop, and the floor is clean but empty. The first "creative market" similar to that popular in southern China was held here. The media reported that Tiexi District wanted to turn it into 798 in Beijing.
Next to the creative industry center, another north-south plant on the west side is the exhibition area of "industrial exhibition and artistic performance", but it was not opened around the middle of October. I saw some pictures and words posted on some friends' blogs, mainly including core iron, wooden mold of chassis, etc., as well as long tables and benches used by team workers for rest, work clothes and safety helmets worn by workers, aluminum kettle for boiling water, large enamel teapot, wooden chess used by workers for entertainment, simple ashtray, etc., to reproduce the fine life of workers at that time Festival. The staff said that there was still a stage in it, but they didn't see it. I don't know.
Some people write that the foundry museum is a fossil of Tiexi Industrial Age. I would like to call it the soul of Shenyang industrial age. Although the foundry museum now covers an area of only 40000 square meters, the main building of 17800 square meters, and has 1523 pieces of casting equipment and castings, it completely shows the seven major casting processes, with more than 20 staff. Compared with Shenyang foundry in the past, it once occupied an area of 330000 square meters, with 5800 employees, the annual maximum output of 38500 tons and tens of thousands of castings However, the foundry Museum has retained the spirit of Chinese industrial workers, such as taking the factory as their home, making arduous efforts, selfless dedication and forging ahead. It's a bit big, but if you think about it carefully, what these ordinary workers have may be what we all lack and are losing.
Development history
In the process of "moving to the East and building to the west" of Tiexi District enterprises, Shenyang foundry is also among the demolition. However, some deputies to the National People's Congress and members of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, who have a strong "industrial culture" complex, actively put forward suggestions, hoping to protect the existing and limited industrial cultural heritage of Tiexi District completely. On April 17, 2007, Shenyang foundry finished pouring the last furnace of molten iron and completed its historical mission. Tiexi District decided to retain the large-scale first workshop of the plant and transform it into a foundry museum to show the industrial context of the northeast old industrial zone.
Shenyang foundry Museum covers an area of 40000 square meters, and the main building is 17800 square meters. It has 1523 pieces of casting equipment and castings, representing the scene of foundry workers' production many years ago. The largest foundry Museum in China was rebuilt on the basis of the original site of Shenyang foundry. Shenyang foundry was founded in 1939, formerly known as Japan high sand production Institute. After the liberation of Shenyang, the factory changed its name many times. It was not named shenyang foundry until 1956. The foundry covers an area of 330000 square meters with 5800 employees.
In the process of relocation and reconstruction of Tiexi old industrial zone in Shenyang, the foundry enterprise located in the old urban area moved to the Foundry Industrial Park of Shenyang Economic and Technological Development Zone. According to the wishes of some deputies to the National People's Congress, members of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference and the workers of the foundry, Tiexi District decided to protect the existing industrial cultural heritage, retain the first foundry workshop of the foundry, and transform it into a foundry museum that fully reflects the industrial context of Shenyang Tiexi old industrial base. In this huge foundry Museum, the main building of nearly 20000 square meters basically retains the original appearance of the first workshop of the original foundry. In the museum, there are steel ladle, castings, equipment and other objects, showing seven major casting processes, and using a large number of pictures, text and audio-visual images, vividly representing the scene of the foundry workshop workers' production.
Shenyang foundry is the largest foundry enterprise in Asia. Under the urban planning of "moving from east to west" in Tiexi old industrial zone, it moved to the Foundry Industrial Park of Shenyang Economic and Technological Development Zone. Tiexi District decided to retain the first large foundry workshop of the plant and transform it into a foundry museum which focuses on showing the industrial context of the northeast old industrial zone. It is now located at No. 14, Weigong North Street, Tiexi District, Shenyang City and rebuilt on the basis of the original site of Shenyang foundry. At present, it is the largest Shenyang foundry Museum in China.
