Cascade hydropower development
Kashi River is the second largest tributary of Ili River, which is the most advantageous tributary of Ili River energy resources development and one of the four major hydropower bases in Xinjiang. Guodian Xinjiang Jilintai Hydropower Development Co., Ltd. comprehensively promotes the development and construction of cascade hydropower stations in Kashi River basin according to the principle of "basin, cascade, rolling and comprehensive" with scientific management and flexible operation policy. The company plans to develop the "two reservoirs and fifteen levels" hydropower station in Kashi River Basin, with a total installed capacity of 1.55 million kilowatts.
Nileke I Hydropower Station, taldesayi hydropower station and sarikte hydropower station are respectively the 13th, 5th and 3rd levels in Kashi River Basin planning, with a total installed capacity of 380000kw and a total investment of 3.691 billion yuan. The three projects will be completed in December 2012.
The total installed capacity of Jilintai I I hydropower station is 460000 kW, which is the tenth hydropower station of the 15th hydropower station in the Kashi River Basin planning. It is also the largest hydropower station put into operation in Xinjiang so far. Four 115000 kW Francis turbine generator units are installed, mainly for power generation, with comprehensive benefits of flood prevention and irrigation. The power station is located in the middle of Jilintai gorge in the middle reaches of Kashi River in Ili, 29km away from Nileke County in the West and 150km away from Yining City in the West.
Our company is speeding up the development of cascade hydropower stations in the middle and upper reaches of Kashi River Basin. Wenquan hydropower station located in Yining County has been closed on September 31, 2008, and the first unit is planned to be put into operation in July 2010. Nileke I Hydropower Station and taldesayi hydropower station have been started on November 26, 2008, and Yining thermal power hydropower station and taldesayi hydropower station have also carried out the preliminary feasibility study Zhaikou hydropower station, sarikte hydropower station and other four projects. According to our company's plan, from the end of the 11th five year plan to the beginning of the 12th Five Year Plan, the installed hydropower capacity of the Kashi River Basin will exceed 1 million kilowatts, and the annual power generation will reach 4.4 billion kilowatt hours, so as to build Ili into an important energy base in Xinjiang and make further contributions to the economic, social and scientific development of Xinjiang.
