brief introduction
According to the records of Qingzhen county annals, "the ancient temple of Dongshan has three bodies and three layers. There are rocks in the middle layer, dozens of walls, caves under the rocks, narrow outside and wide inside. It is said that there are immortal Buddhas living here in the past...". Later, it got its name because there was a strange stone on the top of the mountain, which was like a phoenix squatting in the nest. Hence the name "Chaofeng Temple".
Chaofeng temple is surrounded by beautiful scenery, towering cypresses and verdant trees, especially in the early morning and sunset, the scenery is picturesque. The temple was first built in the early Ming Dynasty and has been destroyed and rebuilt several times. In the early 1980s, the temple was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit by Qingzhen county government. The Buddha statue opening ceremony and a series of Dharma meetings held here.
Chaofeng temple is built near the mountain, which is divided into three layers. The top layer is the former site of the Sutra Pavilion, which is now the sightseeing Pavilion; the middle layer is the main hall, the left and right wing rooms, and the famous "Chaofeng stone" in the center; the lower layer is the Tianwang hall, and the left and right are the bell tower and Drum Tower. The whole pattern constitutes a "quadrangle". For hundreds of years, Chaofeng temple has been full of fragrance. The ancient temple, Jushan, pavilion and pool are winding and quiet, carrying the aura of Chaofeng stone. The people around have been enjoying good weather and peace for generations. It can be called the holy land of Central Guizhou.
The name of Chaofeng temple comes from this Chaofeng stone on the top of the mountain. This spirit stone not only brings the people around a good life for generations, but also has the spirit of not covering snow in winter. Due to lightning strike, a hundred year old tree growing next to the nest Phoenix stone was destroyed, leaving only the old root of carbon black. However, because Phoenix carries the nirvana spirit of "rebirth, regeneration, rebirth, and endless growth", today, a new seedling is growing up from the nest Phoenix stone It symbolizes the rebirth of Phoenix and the spirit of rebirth. It also creates a new situation for today's Chaofeng temple to "resurrect from the East and rejuvenate the ancient temple", and pushes the grace and magnanimous spirit of our Chinese nation to the climax of the world.
Chaofeng temple is named for its stone, which is full of Fairy Spirit. It is often said that in the Buddhist sect, every request will be answered. According to historical records, in the second year of Tianqi in Ming Dynasty, Xuanyu of Guizhou Province knew that an Bangyan rebelled against Ming Dynasty and occupied a territory thousands of miles west of Guiyang. When he called himself king of Luodian, he went to Dongshan temple to pray for gods to protect him against Ming Dynasty. In the early Qing Dynasty, Wu Sangui rebelled from Yunnan Province, and when he passed through Qingzhen, he was also killed During the reign of Xianfeng and Tongzhi, he Desheng, the leader of Guizhou Huadeng sect uprising, set up camp in Dongshan temple
