Basic introduction
Ponte governor Nobre de Carvalho is the first bridge between Macao Peninsula and Taipa Island. It was designed by Portuguese bridge expert jadoxo. The bridge was originally named after the governor of Australia, and was later replaced by the bridge because it was commonly known as the bridge.
Macao Jinghai Changhong bridge is 2569.8 meters long, 2090 meters long and 9.2 meters wide. It has two opposite lanes and 0.8 meters sidewalks on both sides. It crosses the sea of Macao and Taipa. It is like a Changhong lying wave. Its unique design gives a grand and exquisite impression and adds modern atmosphere to the ancient Macao. The bridge is designed and built by Portuguese bridge expert jadoxo. The lines are simple and elegant, and the colors are bright. It is very harmonious with the architectural style on both sides of the Strait. At night, the bridge lights are shining like pearls, which add brilliance to the Haojiang night sky. In different seasons, no matter day or night, the bridge has been set off a beautiful figure, becoming a scenic spot of Macao and a symbol of Macao's development.
In April 1994, the second Aodang bridge (friendship bridge) was completed and put into operation, with a total length of 4414 meters. It reduces the traffic load of the old bridge and plays an important role in the prosperity of Macao.
The third Macao Taipa bridge connects Macao Peninsula and Taipa Island at a cost of 560 million yuan, which is the largest infrastructure project since the establishment of Macao SAR government. The bridge adopts "harp cable-stayed" design, with a total length of 1720m. The bridge deck is divided into upper and lower layers. The upper layer is the highway and the lower layer is reserved for the future light rail.
Architectural features
The biggest feature of the bridge is that the pylon adopts the double arch design of the English letter "m". "M" is the first letter of Macao's English name "Macau", which represents the international appellation of Macao; the arch, viewed vertically and horizontally, represents the Roman numeral and Arabic numeral "three", which means the third Macao Taipa bridge.
The project is an international bidding, with 11 companies from Japan, the United States, Hong Kong, Macao and the mainland bidding. The consortium mainly composed of Bridge Bureau Group won the bid with its strong strength.
After 20 months of intensive construction by the staff of the fourth company of the bridge bureau group, most of the superstructure of the South and North approach bridges have been completed except for the closure of the main bridge. It is expected that the bridge will be completed and opened to traffic in December 2005, the fifth anniversary of Macao's return to China.
It is in harmony with the architectural style of both sides of the Strait, which is magnificent. The Macao Bridge is like a rainbow flying over the mirror sea, and the "mirror sea rainbow" has become one of the eight major scenes in Macao.
