Bayi Square, located in the heart of Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, is the largest city center square in Jiangxi Province. Bayi Square
Bayi Square, formerly known as people's Square, is located in Donghu District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, at the intersection of Bayi Avenue, Beijing West Road, Zhongshan Road, Ruzi road and other urban main streets. It was built in 1952.
Bayi Square, covering an area of 78000 square meters, mainly includes four functional areas: the memorial area marked by the memorial tower, the memory area at the south end, the memory area with eight relief sculptures as the carrier, and the citizens' leisure area at the north end.

Historical evolution
During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the area was a moat and swamp outside the gate of Shunhua.
During the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1875-1908), the Qing government opened up a field for training new recruits in the marshland.
In the third year of Xuantong (1911), the revolutionary army assembled in dajiaochang, overthrew the Qing government's rule in Jiangxi and established the Jiangxi government of the Republic of China.
On October 28, 1912, the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Sun Yat Sen inspected the Jiangxi Revolutionary Army of Li Liejun's department in the grand campus; in 1928, Nanchang was transformed into a square by demolishing the Shunhua gate, filling the moat, and building a ring road (today's Bayi Avenue).
In 1956, the people's government officially named "people's Square" in the urban construction project, and expanded it. The status of the square as the city center was determined. For half a century, the square has been an important place for political, economic and cultural activities in the provincial capital city after many times of reconstruction and expansion.
In 1969, Bayi Square was transformed for the first time.
On August 1, 1977, the "August 1 Nanchang Uprising monument" was built on the square. At the same time, the square was renovated and the people's Square was renamed "Bayi Square".
On January 8, 1979, the memorial tower of August 1 Uprising was completed and became the landmark of Nanchang Hero City.
In 1983, Bayi Square was rebuilt for the second time.
In 1993, Bayi Square was transformed for the third time.
In 1995, Bayi Square added two green parks on the East and west sides, expanding the square green area of 47700 square meters.
From 2001 to 2004, under the leadership of the CPC Nanchang Municipal Committee and government, a large-scale expansion and reconstruction project was carried out, making it a large-scale modern city square highlighting the theme of August 1 Nanchang Uprising center, including commemorative, symbolic, mass and leisure functions. The core area of the square will be expanded to 78000 square meters, and the surrounding area will be expanded to more than 300000 square meters.
On January 1, 2005, Nanchang Municipal People's government implemented "Nanchang Bayi Square Management Regulations".
On March 10, 2017, in order to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Nanchang Uprising, Bayi Square was transformed and expanded.

Bayi Square covers a total area of 78000 square meters, which is divided into four main functional areas: the first is the memorial area in the south, covering an area of 21000 square meters, including 6000 square meters of green space; the second is the cultural area in the middle, covering an area of 24000 square meters, including 10000 square meters of green space and 1680 square meters of water area; the third is the reminiscence area in the south, with 8 relief sculptures as the carrier The fourth is the northern leisure area, which covers an area of 21000 square meters, of which the green area is about 4000 square meters.
Main attractions
Memorial Tower
Located in the center of Bayi Square, the memorial tower is a landmark building in the square, with a height of 53.6 meters. It is composed of platform base, tower base, tower body and tower top. The front of the tower is engraved with the inscription "Introduction to Nanchang Uprising on August 1", and there are relief figures reflecting the armed uprising on the East, South and west sides. On the front of the tower is the bronze gilded inscription of "August 1 Nanchang Uprising Memorial Tower". The top of the tower is composed of an upright giant "Hanyang made" rifle and a Bayi army flag.
Jinshui River
Jinshui River is 120 meters long and 14 meters wide in front of the Bayi memorial tower. There are two unique Jinshui bridges on the water, 5 meters long.
Military history relief
The military history relief is located around the center of the square, with eight pieces of PLA military relief. They are Nanchang Uprising, Autumn Harvest Uprising, Jinggangshan struggle, red capital Ruijin, Long March, anti Japanese war behind enemy lines, war of liberation and great wall of iron and steel. On the back are eight existing national scenic spots in Jiangxi Province, namely the relief sculptures with Jinggang Mountain, Lushan Mountain, Sanqing mountain, Sanbai mountain, Longhu Mountain, Xiannv lake, Meiling mountain and Guifeng mountain as the theme.
Flag raising platform
The flag raising platform is located in the south of the center of Bayi Square. The flag raising platform is the place where the flag giving ceremony and the flag raising ceremony of the army, navy and air force of the people's Liberation Army are held.
musical fountain
Music fountains are arranged on both sides of the Jinshui bridge. The undulating fountains are combined with songs such as March of the Chinese people's Liberation Army, ode to the Yellow River, we workers have strength, our soldiers, for whom and into the new era to form a colorful audio-visual landscape.
inscription
The inscription is located on the Taipei side of the flag raising. Han Baiyu is engraved with Jiang Zemin's inscription "where the military flag rises", highlighting Nanchang's special historical position in the Chinese revolution. On the south side of the flag raising platform, Han Baiyu, which is called the opposite, is engraved with Mao Zedong's handwriting "a single spark can start a prairie fire", reflecting the significance of Jinggangshan road for the victory of the Chinese revolution.
Stone carvings of military history
Military history stone carving is located in the south of the square on the central axis leading to the flag raising platform, laying a 49 meter long and 4.9 meter wide walkway made of transparent glass. Under the footpath, 32 pieces of white marble are used to show the growth history of the PLA. The time is from August 1, 1927 Nanchang Uprising to 2003 "Shenzhou" 5 ascension. Water screen film
In the north of the square, a modern dry jet water curtain film is built. The screen is 30 meters wide and 10 meters high, which can be watched by tens of thousands of people.

Bayi Square highlights the theme of "Bayi history and culture" in an all-round way. Bayi Square's memorial area, cultural area, memory area and leisure area show Bayi Uprising in different forms.
Bayi Square takes "Bayi memorial tower as the core" to expand to the South and North ends of the square respectively, from the historical landscape wall at the south end of the square, the central memorial tower, the revolutionary sculpture, the military history corridor to Wanda Commercial Center at the north end, forming a series in time and space, showing the axis of the party's development from the May 4th movement to the founding of new China.
Construction planning
According to the special plan for underground space in the central city of Nanchang, Nanchang will plan to build three underground complexes, three underground commercial pedestrian streets and four underground commercial facilities.
Nanchang will arrange four underground commercial facilities in combination with the center of each area, including Honggutan CBD, old city center (Bayi Avenue and Zhongshan Road), East sub center (intersection of Beijing East Road and Shanghai Road), Yaohu area center (intersection of Ziyang Avenue and Youan Road).
At the same time, underground commercial facilities should be appropriately arranged in combination with Metro Line 1 and line 2 stations, mainly in Shuanggang Avenue station, Fenghe station, bayiguan station, Gaoxin Avenue station and taizidian station of Metro Line 1, Xuefu Avenue station, Qingshan intersection station, Luoyang Road station and Chaoyang District Center of Metro Line 2.
Cultural Activity
In 2007, Nanchang Bayi Square commemorated the 80th anniversary of the founding of the army and Nanchang Uprising.
On the evening of July 30, 2017, Nanchang Bayi Square celebrated the 90th anniversary of the founding of the army, and an electronic version of the micro film "the place where the military flag rises" was staged for the first time in the military history gallery.
