Zhejiang University of technology is located in the beautiful Hangzhou city. It was founded in 1953. Its predecessor can be traced back to Zhejiang secondary industry school founded in 1910. It has experienced the development stages of Hangzhou chemical engineering school, Wuxijiang Chemical Engineering College, Zhejiang Chemical Engineering College, Zhejiang Chemical Engineering College, Zhejiang Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University of technology, etc. At present, it has developed into a comprehensive provincial key university focusing on engineering, compatible with arts, science, law, economy, medicine, business administration and education. Historical development
Zhejiang Chemical Engineering College
In March 1952, the Government Affairs Council issued an instruction that "secondary technical education must be rectified and developed in a planned and step-by-step way", and determined that all kinds of secondary professional schools should be gradually put under the leadership of relevant business departments.
On July 3, 1953, the Ministry of heavy industry of the Central People's government issued a document to merge Wenzhou high tech, Chemical Engineering Department of Hangzhou polytechnic school and Suzhou high tech chemical engineering department to establish Hangzhou Chemical Industry School of the Ministry of heavy industry of the Central People's government. After the merger, there are 835 students and 19 classes (6 of them are in Wenzhou). Wenzhou polytechnic school was renamed as Wenzhou Branch of Hangzhou chemical industry school.
The school officially opened on September 10, 1953, and the opening ceremony was held on September 14 to mark the anniversary of the school.
In the summer of 1954, Wenzhou Branch was canceled and moved back to Hangzhou.
In 1958, it was listed as a provincial key secondary vocational school.
In June 1958, under the leadership of Zhejiang Provincial People's Committee, the school was renamed Zhejiang chemical college.
Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Technology
In February 1960, the Zhejiang provincial Party committee decided to establish Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Technology in the suburb of Quzhou City on the basis of Zhejiang Chemical Engineering College, which was merged into Quzhou chemical engineering college. The site of the college was selected at the foot of langkeshan, South Shishi commune of Quzhou City (now Shishi Township, Kecheng District, Quzhou City).
On February 22, 1960, Zhejiang Institute of chemical technology broke the ground. In half a year, 12500 square meters of school buildings were built. In September, junior college and undergraduate moved to Quzhou and began teaching activities. In the same year, all the houses (excluding building 14) on the east side of the main road in Wenyi Road Campus were handed over to Hangzhou Institute of Technology (after the closure of Hangzhou Institute of technology, the above houses were transferred to the Party School of the provincial Party committee). All the houses and facilities on the west side of the main road, as well as building 14 on the east side of the main road, are reserved for the use of the technical secondary school (later changed to Hangzhou Chemical School).
In July 1963, the school was under the leadership of the Ministry of chemical industry. Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Technology moved back to the original site of Hangzhou (Zhejiang chemical college). The two schools used the school building of Hangzhou chemical college together.
In November 1965, the school was again under the management of Zhejiang Province, and Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Technology moved back to Quzhou.
During the Cultural Revolution from 1966 to 1976, the enrollment was interrupted for four years from 1966 to 1970, and 922 students were enrolled in the six sessions from 1970 to 1976.
On July 27, 1970, Zhejiang provincial Revolutionary Committee decided to merge Hangzhou chemical engineering school into Zhejiang Chemical Engineering College. The former Zhejiang silk Engineering College moved in, and all houses and facilities were transferred to the college.
Zhejiang Engineering College
On May 12, 1978, Zhejiang provincial Party Committee founded Zhejiang Institute of technology. The school is located in Chaowang and Dongxin brigade of Shangtang commune in Xihu District (Zhaohui campus in Xiacheng District). The planned land area is 430 mu, which is designed according to the scale of 3000 students.
On July 29, 1978, the leading group of Zhejiang Institute of technology was established.
In 1979, Ningbo Branch of Zhejiang Institute of Technology (the first engineering college in Ningbo) was founded. In the second year of its establishment, Zhejiang Provincial Department of light industry negotiated with Ningbo municipal government and decided to set up a provincial technical secondary school to cultivate talents in textile industry. On the basis of Ningbo Branch of Zhejiang Institute of technology, Zhejiang Textile Industry School (now Zhejiang textile and garment vocational and Technical College) was established, The school was moved to the edge of Yaojiang River in Jiangbei District.
In 1980, Zhejiang Institute of chemical technology was incorporated into Zhejiang Institute of technology as the foundation.
In 1985, Zhejiang Institute of Technology West Zhejiang branch was founded.
In October 1991, the people's Government of Zhejiang Province began to discuss with Mr. Zhang Ziliang, a Taiwanese industrialist whose ancestral home is Jiaxing, about donating money to build Zhejiang University of technology on the basis of Zhejiang Institute of technology.
On December 16, 1991, the people's Government of Zhejiang Province and Mr. Zhang Ziliang signed the agreement on Mr. Zhang Ziliang's donation for the construction of Zhejiang University of technology, accepting the donation of US $10 million and the provincial people's government's supporting fee of RMB 60 million.
On March 16, 1992, the people's Government of Zhejiang Province approved the master plan of Zhejiang University of technology.

On December 2, 1993, the people's Government of Zhejiang Province issued a document to approve the renaming of Zhejiang Institute of technology as Zhejiang University of technology and the renaming of Zhejiang West Branch of Zhejiang Institute of technology as Zhejiang West Branch of Zhejiang University of technology.
In 1994, Zhejiang provincial government issued a document to merge Zhejiang Economic Management Cadre College under the provincial planning and Economic Commission into Zhejiang University of technology; Jinhua Branch of Zhejiang University of Technology (one of the predecessor of Jinhua Vocational and Technical College) was established.
In July 1999, the provincial government issued a document to merge Hangzhou Shipbuilding Industry School Affiliated to China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation into Zhejiang University of technology, named Zhijiang campus of Zhejiang University of technology. The school decided to establish Zhijiang college, a secondary college operated by private mechanism, in Zhijiang campus.
In March 2001, the Zhejiang provincial government issued the minutes of the special meeting, which merged Zhejiang Building Materials Industry School Affiliated to Zhejiang Building Materials Industry Corporation into Zhejiang University of technology.
In 2003, the University passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education with excellent results.
In June 2009, the Ministry of education and Zhejiang provincial government signed a co construction agreement. Zhejiang University of technology has become the first Co Construction University of the eastern coastal provinces. Zhejiang University and Zhejiang University of technology signed an agreement on counterpart support and cooperation between the two universities. Zhejiang University has strengthened its counterpart support and cooperation in personnel training, discipline construction, cadre exchange and teacher training.
In March 2010, West Zhejiang branch of Zhejiang University of technology was upgraded and renamed Quzhou University. In June, it was selected into the first batch of "excellent engineer education and training plan" universities of the Ministry of education.
In 2013, the "Yangtze River Delta green pharmaceutical Collaborative Innovation Center" led by Zhejiang University of technology was selected as the first batch of national higher education innovation ability improvement plan ("2011 plan"), becoming the second University in Zhejiang Province to be selected as the national higher education major project; Haiyang College of Zhejiang University of technology was established; and officially became a member of Asia Planning Institute Alliance (APSA).
In 2014, he was selected into the excellent teacher training plan of the Ministry of education; he signed an agreement with Deqing County People's Government on the construction of "industrial technology research park of Yangtze River Delta green pharmaceutical Collaborative Innovation Center" to jointly build Deqing campus of Zhejiang University of technology.
