Xuanwu Gate is the gate of the Ming City Wall in Nanjing, and is now the gate of Xuanwu Lake Park. In 1910, Duan Fang, governor of Liangjiang, organized Nanyang Business Association. In order to increase the number of tourist attractions and facilitate the tour of Xuanwu Lake, he decided to open a new gate to Xuanwu Lake and turn Xuanwu Lake into "Wuzhou Park" and open it to the public. Later, Zhang Renjun, the successor governor, was in charge of it. Because Zhang Renjun was born in Fengrun, Hebei Province, he named it "fengrunmen". In July 1928, it was renamed Xuanwumen, and it is still in use today. In 1931, Xuanwu Gate was rebuilt into three hole gate.

history
Xuanwu Gate of Taiji palace in Tang Dynasty, built in Sui Dynasty, is the north gate of Daxing palace. After the establishment of the Tang Dynasty, Daxing palace was transformed into Taiji palace, with two gates in the north, Xuanwu Gate in the West and Anli gate in the East.
Xuanwu Gate is located on the high slope of the original dragon head. It is adjacent to xineiyuan in the north and overlooks the palace city in front. In order to control the commanding height of Taiji palace, Louguan is built on the gate.
On the fourth day of June in the ninth year of Wude (626), Emperor Gaozu of Tang Dynasty, Li Shimin of Qin Dynasty ambushed his troops and launched a coup in Xuanwumen, killing Prince Li Jiancheng and King Li Yuanji of Qi, forcing Gaozu to hand over his political power.
In the early Tang Dynasty, emperors often shot, gave banquets and watched operas in this gate.
In August of the third year of emperor Zhongzong of Tang Dynasty (707), Prince Li chongjun wanted to attack empress Wei. After the failure of Bingwei Xuanwu Gate, the gate was renamed Shenwu gate, and the building was named Shengsheng gate.
During the reign of emperor Xizong of Tang Dynasty, the Huangchao rebellion broke out and Chang'an city was seriously damaged. In 904, Zhu Quanzhong moved the capital of Tang Zhaozong to Luoyang and demolished the palace. After that, Han Jian, the governor of Youguo army stationed in Chang'an, rebuilt and reduced Chang'an city. Han Jian gave up the vast palace city of Waiguo city and only retained the imperial city. The reconstructed Chang'an city is called the new city. At this time, the Xuanwu Gate of Taiji palace no longer exists.
