Historical evolution

Dalian Library was built in 1907 during the period of Japanese occupation of Dalian, which was known as the reference room of South Manchuria Railway Co., Ltd. In 1922, it was renamed Dalian Library of South Manchuria Railway Co., Ltd. Dalian was liberated in 1945 and taken over by the Soviet army. In 1950, the local government of Dalian took over the library and renamed it lvdashi library. In 1981, it was also called Dalian Library. In 1990, more than 30000 square meters of new library building was completed and opened to readers at the southern foot of Baiyun Mountain scenic area. In 1999, the new library was rebuilt and expanded, and a branch library was set up on the original site of Dalian Lu Xun road library, so that the total area of Dalian Library reached 40000 square meters. At present, Dalian Library has become a large-scale comprehensive modern public library integrating literature collection, information consultation, social education and academic research. The existing studio area of the center is 500 square meters, and the working environment is second to none in China. All the eight restoration personnel have bachelor's degree or above and have received professional training. The center adheres to the repair concept of "protection first, rescue first, least intervention, reversible process". A large number of ancient books and documents have been restored and rescued by various restoration techniques such as "gold inlaid jade", "single and double lining paper", "removing acid from book pages". In 2007 alone, more than 50 kinds of ancient books, more than 100 volumes and more than 600 rubbings of various inscriptions have been restored. Outstanding achievements. Baiyun Academy

Baiyun academy is dominated by the inheritance of traditional culture and education, focusing on the cultivation of children's Sinology foundation. Among the 3 million books in our library, 550000 are ancient books. The museum also has a collection of books written in 29 languages, such as the works of Western missionaries in the 17th century, the western works introducing Chinese classics, the complete works of Shakespeare in 1875, the Encyclopedia Britannica in the ninth, eleventh, thirteenth and fourteenth editions, etc., especially the collection of books on Jewish issues.
