Volks Stadium
Shaanxi Provincial stadium is located in the northwest of Chang'an interchange on the second South Ring Road of Xi'an City, between Chang'an North Road and Zhuque street. It was built in 1952 and completed in December 1954. It was originally called "Northwest People's Stadium". After 1971, it was renamed "Shaanxi Provincial People's Stadium" (hereinafter referred to as "provincial Stadium"), in which the track and field field field and grandstand (including football field) were the earliest facilities of the provincial stadium.
Since then, comprehensive training rooms, competition halls and other sports facilities have been built. The stadium grandstand (including the football field) is the main building of the stadium. It is a stone concrete structure, which can accommodate 40000 spectators. It has 27 entrances and exits. The rostrum is in the center of the West. It has two floors, including the upper and lower floors. There are dressing rooms for athletes, referees and VIP lounge. There are East, West and North passageways outside the grandstand for athletes, referees, staff and large vehicles. The track and field field has eight 400 meter standard runways, including turf football field, with an area of 100 × 70 square meters. In 1983, seven additional lighthouses were built in the four corners of the track and field stands, each of which is about 49 meters high. Lighting was installed on the upper six floors, so that competitions can be held at night.
In addition to the large-scale sports facilities such as the track and field grandstand and the additional comprehensive training room, after the 1960s, the gymnastic room (built in 1963), weightlifting room (built in 1972), basketball room (built in 1972), volleyball room (built in 1974), table tennis room (built in 1980), martial arts room (built in 1985) and other sports training facilities were successively built. In 1982, a new roller skating rink was built in the southeast corner of the track and field stand, and the former wind and rain playground in the northeast corner was transformed into an indoor competition hall, which can accommodate 2500 spectators, with an area of 30 × 23 square meters, suitable for basketball, volleyball, martial arts, table tennis and other competitions.
By the end of 1990, the provincial stadium had become a multi-functional comprehensive stadium, suitable for major sports competitions such as track and field, football and large-scale mass gatherings at home and abroad.
