Shanghu Bay, according to legend, was named because Jiang Shang (Jiang Taigong) avoided the tyranny of King Zhou at the end of Yin Dynasty and lived in seclusion here fishing. At the beginning of 1985, the municipal Party committee and government decided to return farmland to the lake in order to restore the ecological balance and landscape of Shanghu Lake and develop tourist scenic spots. The Municipal Construction Committee started the development and construction of Shanghu scenic spot, invited landscape experts from Tongji University to plan and design together, and mobilized 10000 migrant workers to form the "returning Lake army". After half a year's hard work, 1.25 million cubic meters of soil were carried out to build a 21 km long dike around the lake and a 1.4 km long dike across the lake. On July 23, it began to release water to "return the lake". As a result, Shanghu has 12000 mu of water. There are seven artificial islands in the lake, with a total area of 1000 mu. The Shanghu Lake before Yushan has a large land and broad water, including the beauty of mountains and rivers. In 1986, shanghuwan scenic area began to open to the outside world.

It is said that Huang Gongwang, a great painter of the Yuan Dynasty, often drank and painted in Huqiao. The original ancient bridge has collapsed and was imitated in hexiangzhou in 1987.

The scenic spots of yuyuzhu park are: 1. Golf club. Covering an area of about 100000 square meters, it is composed of clubhouse, mini stadium, standard fairway area, water driving range and other main functional areas. Located in the south of the stadium, the clubhouse is a two-story building full of modern flavor, with a lobby, a bar, a ball shop, a multi-function hall, a gym, a chess room, a restaurant, etc. There is a stainless steel sculpture symbolizing golf on the square in front of the club. 2、 Jiangshang cultural district. There are more than 3000 peonies of eight colors in the garden. There are more than 150 varieties, such as Luoyang red, Caozhou red, yaohuang, Weizi, zhaofen, saixueta, Kunshan luminous and doulv. There are also peonies from Luoyang, Henan, Ningguo, Anhui, Heze, Jiangsu, Yancheng and Japan. The plant landscape that has become forest includes: camellia garden, cherry garden, red Maple Garden, Begonia Garden, palm forest, rose garden, bonsai garden, pine and cypress garden, etc., all of which are good places to enjoy the flowers.

The reconstruction project of the Lake crossing dyke, which divides the surface of Shanghu Lake into two parts, was designed by the urban planning and Design Institute of Southeast University with a total investment of more than 27 million yuan and started in May 2000. The main projects include a 17 hole stone arch bridge, 228 meters long and 13 meters wide, imitating the Ming and Qing Dynasties, as well as the observation platforms at both ends, such as "Wangyu platform" and "Jinxiang Pavilion", to add a new landscape to Shanghu Lake.

The development and construction of Shanghu Bay has achieved obvious environmental, social and economic benefits. For more than ten years, the "pollution source" of Shanghu Lake has been basically controlled. The Yangtze River water has been successfully introduced into the lake, and the water has been changed frequently, so that the water quality has always maintained the national secondary standard
