Profile
Wang Anshi (1020-1086) was born in Jiangxi Province, but had an indissoluble bond with Jinling. After he spent his youth in Jinling, he came here twice to keep filial piety and serve as a magistrate for three times. He lived for 20 years before and after that. He died and was buried at the foot of Zhongshan Mountain.
In 1076, not long after Wang Anshi, 56, became Prime Minister for the second time, he had a dispute with the Conservatives, so he asked to be dismissed in October. Zhao Xu agreed to give Wang Anshi the title of "judge Jiangning Prefecture". After returning to Jinling, Wang never went to the Yamen. In June of the next year, he resigned and built this room for himself in the white tower on the way from chengdongmen to Zhongshan. Because the main pond is 7 li away from the east gate of Jiangning city and 7 li away from the main peak of Zhongshan Mountain, the so-called half way up, the house is named banshanyuan. In the park, Wang Anshi made many friends of Gao Yi, including Mi Fu, Li Gonglin, Ouyang Xiu and Su Dongpo. Once Su Dongpo passed Jinling by boat, Wang Anshi went to meet him by the river on horseback and in coarse clothes. Su Dongpo also did not crown but bowed to the sun: "today, Shi meets the prime minister with his wild clothes." Wang Anshi said with a smile: "the ceremony is not set for our generation!" Wang Anshi invited Su Dongpo to visit Zhongshan and wrote poems for them. It can be seen that although they have different political views, their personal friendship and poetic friendship are still very deep. Wang Anshi is one of the "eight great writers of Tang and Song Dynasties". His poems are quite different from others. It can be said that there is no evil in it According to rough statistics, his poems about Nanjing amount to about 300.
In 1084, Wang Anshi got a serious illness, and the God sent the national doctors to Jiangning prefecture to treat him. After he recovered from his illness, he wrote to the emperor asking for the temple to be rebuilt with his own house. Shenzong granted him "Baoning paiduo", also known as Banshan temple.
In the Ming Dynasty, Liangshan state was included in the forbidden area of the imperial palace. In the Qing Dynasty, Tao Shu, governor of Liangjiang, rebuilt Banshan temple at the site of Banshan state. It was destroyed in Xianfeng, rebuilt in 187 and rebuilt in Xuantong.
