Taiping ancient town
Taiping ancient town is located at the intersection of Gulin River and Chishui River, 35 kilometers away from Gulin county. Across the river from Xingmin Township, Xishui County, Guizhou Province, it is the east gate for Gulin to go out of Sichuan and enter Guizhou. It is the border market of the two provinces, where merchants gather and materials are distributed. It is known as the water and land wharf of Sichuan and Guizhou.
According to the records of Gulin county annals, during the Warring States period and the pre Qin period, it belonged to the tribe of Guxi state and Yelang state, which was called luohongkou. In the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Futong, a businessman from taipingbao, Longnan County, Jiangxi Province, settled here, and even left Hongkou as lupingchang to commemorate his predecessor Zhu Xi's preaching in Bailudong Academy. Later, the descendants of Zhu changed their name to "taipingdu" to cherish their hometown "taipingbao", which is still in use today.
Taiping ancient town has a deep red culture. In 1935, the Red Army of Chinese workers and peasants moved to Gulin County for 54 days. The main ferry of the second and fourth crossing of Chishui is located in Taiping ancient town, leaving a large number of valuable red relics and revolutionary relics.
Taiping ancient town is a unique mountainous ancient town in South Sichuan. The ancient town is built close to the mountains. Most of the existing buildings are houses in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. They are built with the framework of ancient drywall style and stilted buildings, showing the characteristics of "platform, hanging, wrong, pick, shuttle and lean". The scenic spot is located at the junction of Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan provinces, and its cultural characteristics reflect the integration of regional and ethnic characteristics.

History of scenic spots
According to the local chronicles of Gulin County, from the Warring States period to the pre Qin period, Taiping ancient town belonged to the tribe and Yelang kingdom of the ancient state of sheguo, and people called it luohongkou.
In the Shu Han Dynasty, Zhuge Liang went to the South and set up troops in this generation.
After the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Futong, a businessman from taipingbao, Longnan County, Jiangxi Province, changed the name of "luohongkou" to "lupingchang" in memory of his predecessor Zhu Xi's preaching in Bailudong Academy. Later, in memory of his hometown's "taipingbao", Zhu's descendants changed it to "taipingdu", which is still in use today.
At the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, because of the traffic demand of Sichuan salt into Guizhou, many salt merchants poured into Taiping to set up a post station, merchants gathered and trade was busy. The Taiping ferry is lined up with ships, masts like a forest, and things flow smoothly. Therefore, the ancient town gradually flourishes.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Taiping town has become a famous business hub in Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan.
In 1935, the red army arrived at Taiping ancient town and began to cross Chishui.
In 1958, Taiping town established the Red Army Long March revolution memorial hall, which was earlier in China.
In 1983, it was included in the series "China's tourism world today" and introduced to the world in seven languages.
In 1996, the memorial and exhibition hall for the Red Army's four crossings to Chishui was built, and it was named the patriotic education base of Sichuan Province by the Sichuan provincial Party committee and government.
In June 2001, approved by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, Taiping Town, where the exhibition hall is located, was announced as the second batch of patriotic education demonstration bases in China.
In 2005, the memorial scenic spot was included in 100 red tourism classic scenic spots and 30 boutique routes.
In 2006, with the approval of the relevant provincial departments, we completed the renovation of the monument, the supporting construction of 1800 square meters memorial site, the reconstruction and expansion of 2000 square meters memorial hall, the construction of 3000 square meters parking lot, the maintenance and renovation of Red Army Street, the construction of 3 km walking path, the construction of 4 tourist toilets, and the addition of 11 scattered Red Army sculptures and relief sculptures in the square outside the memorial hall.
In 2007, it was approved as a national historical and cultural town by the Ministry of construction and one of the eight famous towns in Sichuan Province.
In 2009, the second phase of the Red Army's Long March four crossing Chishui taipingdu memorial site project was implemented. The important nodes of "Red Army confidential room", "Red Army General Political Department", "Red Army general headquarters", "Red Army Hospital" and "Red Army bank" and 28000 square meters of ancient buildings were repaired, protected and historical scenes restored.
In April 2011, Taiping ancient town was rated as one of the "ten most suitable streets" in Sichuan Province.
In October 2012, Taiping ancient town was rated as a national AAAA tourist attraction.
On December 5, 2016, the National Tourism Administration launched the most severe "purge" in the history of scenic area, and Taiping ancient town was seriously warned.

Taiping ancient town is located at the intersection of Gulin River and Chishui River, 35 kilometers away from Gulin county. It is across the river from Xingmin Township, Xishui City, Guizhou Province. It is the east gate of Gulin from Sichuan to Guizhou. The geographical coordinates of the town center are n28 ° 08 ′ N and E106 ° 02 ′ E. As of February 2011, the scenic area covers an area of 104 square kilometers.

Taiping ancient town is high in the southeast and low in the northwest, inclining to taipingdu, belonging to deep hilly Valley landform; the highest elevation in the scenic area is 1100 meters, the lowest elevation is 300 meters, and the relative elevation difference is 800 meters, so the karst landform is obvious. Taiping is close to mountains and rivers, and its streets are distributed in steps. It has long been a place where business and tourism gather and disperse in Sichuan and Guizhou, known as "small mountain city".

The ancient town is surrounded by mountains and rivers. Most of the existing buildings are houses in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which adopt the ancient drywall and stilted buildings. The most distinctive structural layout of Changzheng street, Hongjun street and Shunhe street is based on the natural landscape. The streets and buildings are zigzagged horizontally according to the terrain. With the progress of society, high-rise buildings rise along the Chishui River, forming a new trade fair city. The 3 km walking stone steps are connected with new streets in the shape of "Z". The new street has a memorial hall of 2000 square meters, a memorial square of 1800 square meters, and the square outside the memorial hall has 11 scattered Red Army sculptures and reliefs.

The old streets of Taiping ancient town have simple folk customs. In the old days, there were eight scenes of Taiping, namely Jiuxi misty rain, Luohong Xiaodu, Chunyan holding mud, Rongsheng lights, yingding sunset, fishermen fishing, rhinoceros watching the moon, and Yingshi Memorial.

Gulin Red Army Long March four crossing Chishui museum is the national patriotic education demonstration base. Taiping ancient town, 34 kilometers east of Gulin County, Sichuan Province, covers an area of 6000 square meters and an exhibition hall of 1600 square meters.
The exhibition hall of Red Army Sidu Chishui taipingdu was built in 1958. It was originally named taipingdu Long March Memorial Hall. In 1975, it was rebuilt and renamed as the exhibition hall of Red Army Sidu Chishui taipingdu. In 2001, it was named "national patriotism education base" by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee. In 2005, it was identified as one of the 100 red tourism classic scenic spots in the country. In April 2008, it was officially opened to the public free of charge. Nearly 200 pieces of revolutionary cultural relics, including weapons, seals, medical books, slogans and so on, left by the Red Army during the long march in Gulin are mainly displayed. There are 13 exhibition rooms in the museum, which are divided into six parts, reflecting the whole process of the Red Army's Long March four crossing Chishui. It introduces in detail the activities carried out by the Central Red Army in Gulin, South Sichuan guerrillas and underground party activities in Gulin three times under the personal command of Comrade Mao Zedong from January 19 to March 22, 1935.
In 2011, the taipingdu exhibition hall of Red Army Sidu Chishui was officially renamed as Gulin Red Army Long March Sidu Chishui museum with Sichuan Cultural Relics Bohan (2011) No. 47 document approved by Sichuan Provincial Administration of cultural relics.
Changzheng Street
Changzheng street is located in the center of the ancient town. Most of the wooden houses were built in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. The total length of the old street is about 500 meters, which combines the architectural style of Jiangxi and the architectural elements of southern Sichuan dwellings. The terrain of most ancient towns in China is relatively flat, but the Changzheng street is built step by step along the ridge, with a drop of nearly 100 meters and hundreds of steps. There are rest places for comrades Mao Zedong, Zhu De and Zhou Enlai, former sites of regimental headquarters of the first, third and fifth Red Army, temporary hospital of the Red Army, temporary bank of the Soviet Union and other sites of the Red Army.
