River Temple
Located in the West Ring Road of Lueyang County, Hanzhong, Shaanxi Province, the temple of the Yangtze River is a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level. It is the most complete preserved theater complex of the ancient Di Qiang style in the Yangtze River Valley of China. The whole courtyard of the River Temple is built according to the elevation difference, covering an area of more than 2000 square meters.
The overall architecture reflects the architectural characteristics of "from the outside to see the wall but not the wood, from the inside to see the wood but not the wall", and pays attention to color painting and wood carving. In the temple, there are nearly 400 painted and woodcut board paintings reflecting ancient folk customs, myths and legends, traditional rituals and opera stories, which are of high archaeological research value and strong folk tourism attraction.
Historical records
According to the records of Arts and culture in Lueyang County, "Wangye Temple (i.e. River Temple or water temple) has been in haigengzi (should be 19 or 20 years of Daoguang), and it was decorated with red chalkiness and resplendent gold." According to the records of "rebuilding the monument of Wenchang Temple", it was rebuilt in the 21st year of Daoguang. There is no stone tablet to prove when it was first built. According to the calculation, this building was built in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty at the latest. At present, there are three couplets and two courtyards, with a width of 22 meters and a depth of 55 meters. The building area is about 1210 square meters. Ziyun palace, also known as Xinjiang temple, is located in Gaotaizi primary school in Lueyang county. These ancient buildings are not decorated with the brackets of Han ancient buildings, and a large number of sealing plates are used to cover the eaves rafters and the internal beam structure. It bears the pressure of wing angle upwarping with the help of diagonal bracing corner column, which is a full carved and ferocious wooden tiger, adding dignity and unique style to the ancient architecture. The art of board painting on ancient buildings includes animal head pattern painting, Diqiang figure painting and high relief figure story image. Animal head paintings are mostly animals such as bears, flying boars, flying monkeys, which have strong local characteristics and realistic style. They are related to the religious activities of "nature worship" and "totem worship" of the Diqiang people. The characters of the Qiang nationality are novel in shape, and their clothes are quite different from those of the Han nationality. There is a picture of a general with a high nose, thick eyebrows and big eyes. He wears a pointed sheep horn hat with golden chicken feathers on the top of the hat. He has hair beside his ears. Jiang temple is about 65 meters deep from east to west and 30 meters wide from north to south, covering an area of nearly 2000 square meters. The overall layout of the building is based on the difference of terrain and adopts the layout of traditional Chinese house, forming a three-way courtyard. From west to East, there are Theater, hall, front hall and back hall, with corridor rooms on both sides. The layout is reasonable and compact. The exterior of the group building is a closed space with solid walls, so that the walls can be seen outside, but the wood can not be seen inside. The theater floor is three rooms wide and four rooms deep. The ground floor is the jiangshen temple. The stage and dressing room on the second floor are separated by wooden boards. The railings and eaves are imitated and carved delicately. The front hall and the back hall of the hall are five rooms wide, all of which are made of wooden frames. All the architectural details of the temple focus on wood carving and board drawing, which is gorgeous in appearance and full of local and national characteristics. A large number of wind baffles are used on the cornice to cover the internal beam structure of the cornice. The diagonal wooden column at the wing corner of the theater building is a gold carved wooden tiger, which is integrated with the figure modeling, adding dignity and chic style to the building. The wooden carvings on the column board of the theater are rich in themes, including animal head pictures, the characters of the Qiang nationality and relief stories. The animal head pictures are mostly animals like bears, pigs and monkeys. There are nearly 300 such pictures in the temple. The characters of the Qiang nationality are unique in image and dress Different from the Han nationality, the relief images of characters and stories are mostly of characters and flowers, and there are only 215 wood carvings left, which have strong Qiang cultural characteristics and realistic style. To the east of the theater building, there is a courtyard. The hall on both sides is divided into two layers. On the bottom wall, there are folk songs and love songs of Lueyang. On the second floor, there are legends of folk characters of Lueyang. Then to the East, there is a small marble bridge, that is, to the front hall of jiangshen temple. The Dragon flies around the column.
