It is 230 km away from Zhangjiajie scenic spot, 70 km away from Liye Qinjian land in Western Hunan, 110 km away from Xiaonanhai of Qianjiang River, and 80 km away from Longtan station of Chongqing Huaihua Railway (former residence of Zhao Shiyan) Maodong is the only big mountain and River Cave on the Youshui river. It is the most spectacular, majestic and marvelous one. It is 38 meters high, 58 meters wide and 220 meters long. The cave is so peculiar that visitors can say it is absolutely amazing. Along the banks of the river, Shifeng karst caves are everywhere.

Maodong is the only big mountain and River Cave on the Youshui river. It is the most spectacular, majestic and marvelous one. It is 38 meters high, 58 meters wide and 220 meters long. The cave is so peculiar that visitors can say it is absolutely amazing. Along the banks of the river, Shifeng karst caves are everywhere. The beautiful legends of "luoyintan", "Xianren cave" and "Maodong cave" still exist today.

Maodong is a big Fuliu cave, through which Youshui passes, which looks like wolongtunjiang River and is magnificent. There are dozens of large and small caves within one square kilometer of Maodong. Some caves are on the top of the mountain, some on the hillside, some on the cliff, and some beside the river. Each cave is back-to-back, face-to-face, up and down, or left and right, forming a unique cave spectacle, which makes people sigh for the uncanny workmanship of nature. Maodong is also the location of baihusi Tusi City, with many historical and cultural relics. In 1992, the Xianren cave, one of the eight sceneries in Laosicheng, was excavated. 131 cultural relics were excavated from the hanging coffin. The number of cultural relics, the time span and the cultural connotation are rare in the areas where there is the custom of hanging coffin burial, which further proves the broad and profound history and culture of Maodong scenic spot.

It is said that when Lu Ban and his disciple Xianyou passed by Laifeng, they saw that Laifeng was still a vast ocean. The local people were deeply affected by the flood, and they immediately thought of bringing benefits to Laifeng. Therefore, the division of labor between the master and the apprentice led Luban to build a Buddha pool to protect the people of Laifeng, and the disciples dug Feilong mountain to drain water to eliminate the worries of the people of Laifeng. After Lu Ban finished the construction of Fotan, he went to see the progress of his disciples' Kaishan, but found that his disciples were sleeping lazily, and Feilong mountain was not opened. At this time, the chicken had crowed three times, and it was almost dawn, so Luban had an idea. He picked up his stick and poked a hole in Feilong mountain (because it was Maoshi, the hole was named Maodong). At the same time, Luban took off a straw sandal and threw it into the water of the Buddha pool, saying: if you want to open Maodong, you need to wait for the iron boat.

Maodong, located in Laifeng County, Hubei Province, borders Hunan Province. Maodong is Baifusi town in Laifeng County. It is located at the junction of Youshui River in Laifeng County and Pidu River in Longshan County, Hunan Province. It is 37 kilometers south of the county. Because of its magnificence, marvellous, spectacular and thrilling, it has been a legend for thousands of years. Many scholars and county magistrate have to visit Maodong and chant it.

Maodong is like a majestic stone arch bridge, crossing the rolling Youshui river. The cave is 58 meters wide, 36 meters high and 215 meters long. It greedily engulfs the Youhe river. The maximum flood is 3400 cubic meters per second. It passes through the cave with a roaring roar. On the back of the arch shaped cave is a majestic mountain hundreds of meters high, trying to block the way of Youshui. However, "the five mountains are in vain", and the rolling Youshui is surging through 215 meters thick rocks, rushing into the cave. Professor Zhang Lianggao said: "in Western Hubei, water flows from the bottom of the mountain to form an undercurrent. It's not unusual, but there are no other wonders like Maodong. In a certain sense, Maodong is also the first in the world.".

The appearance of Maodong is a cliff hundreds of meters high. The cliff is not a wall, but a ring. This is one of the wonders of Maodong.

The ring-shaped cliff at the entrance of Maodong cave, from the top of the mountain to the river bed, is very dangerous and magnificent. This is the second wonder of Maodong cave.

The top of the 215 meter long Maodong cave is flat, just like the cast-in-place slab of modern architecture. The wall of the cave is vertical, just like the world-famous Gezhouba Shiplock, which is the third wonder of Maodong.

On the precipice at the entrance of Maodong cave, there are many small trees as big as tea cups, which rely on the soil in the rock crevices to survive. There are also many vines hanging in front of the cave wall, which make the originally magnificent Maodong cave more beautiful, elegant and charming. It's really an infinite scenery at the dangerous peak.

What's more charming is a small cave more than 100 meters above the entrance of Maodong cave, named Xianren cave. It's a cliff cut like a knife. Looking up from the bottom, if there is a railing at the entrance. But what is that railing? Two hundred and thirty years ago, Lin Yichi, the seventh magistrate of Laifeng County, wrote the story of Maodong, in which he wrote about the immortal cave and its pearl railing, but he didn't know what it was. But today, 230 years later, the railings at the entrance of the cave are still visible, but it is still a mystery. According to the records of Laifeng County compiled in the fifth year of Tongzhi, "it is said that in the Han and Tang Dynasties, there were paths to enter. There is a golden ring and a jade sheath in it. Those who borrow it look at the sky and sincerely pray for it. Later, someone gave back the bronze cup and tin cup, so the immortal path was cut off and was out of reach. Zhang Zhi, a scholar in the Qing Dynasty, wrote a poem "Flowing Clouds in the fairy cave"

Mao cave stands in ancient and modern times, but there is no humanity to break its ancient and modern times. Only with the same broad and profound mind as nature can we understand its magic and praise it as one of the best in the world.

The Maodong cave in Nanxiang is so unique that the mountain is surrounded by water and the water is destroyed.

Among them, lingqiduo is abnormal, and the view of Dadong is different.

Who can really explain the marvellous, beautiful and spectacular Maodong?

According to legend, the immortal Buddha in Maodong and another scenic spot on Youshui River in the county was built by Lu Ban. Luban built Buddha statues on the cliff inside the immortal Buddhist temple, and his disciples built Mao caves to drain the water from the inland lake of Laifeng for the benefit of the people. It is agreed that the project will be finished in the morning. But the apprentice was lazy and playful. Before dawn, he learned to crow, causing all the chickens around him to crow. When Luban finished repairing the Buddha statue, he was very worried about the construction of Maodong. He rushed to check it. When he saw that it had not been opened, he poked the rock with his iron ruler and pierced the 215 meter thick rock. The water flowed out of the cave. It was Maoshi, so it was named Maodong.

From the Maodong boating upstream, the two sides of the mountain, such as cutting cliff, forest forest. Along the coast there are mast rock, stone niche, incense burner rock, chess playing pool and loyin pool. Along the coast there are magnificent, spectacular and peculiar natural three towers. The inside of the tower is empty, as if it were cast by hand. According to the records of Laifeng County annals in Tongzhi year, the ancients called the natural pagoda zatian Wenbi.

From Maodong to luoyintan, there are 18 caves of various forms on both sides of the river, which are two kilometers long. They are inlaid in different peaks and mountains. Some are organically linked together, and some are self-supporting. The entrance also has its own style, some in the shape of "human", some in the shape of semicircle. The mouth of the cave faces the Youshui River, each with its own characteristics. These 18 caves are distributed on both sides of Youshui River, just like Cowherd and weaver girl, facing each other across the river. They are unique, spectacular and charming. They are rare in the world. In a large cave on the East Bank of the river, it is spacious and deep. There are various kinds of stalactites. Some are like Guanyin, some are like lotus, some are like phoenix spreading their wings, and some are like turtles crawling. On the top of the mountain of luoyintan, there is also the ruins of the castle built by Manshui chieftain in the Five Dynasties. It is more than 1000 years ago, and the traces of the stone fortress are still visible. It seems that the chieftain was still in the castle yesterday, toasting with his civil servants and generals, and rowing to win the championship. Luoyin lake is a lake with beautiful legends. According to legend, Manshui chieftain's younger brother stole his seal from Berlin and crossed the river. The pursuers rushed to the Bank of the river and swam to Berlin. So they shot an arrow at the foot of Berlin and screamed at Berlin. The seal fell in the pool, so it was called luoyintan.

Birds sing in green mountains and fish dance in green waters.

Boating on the Youshui river like the small Three Gorges is like being in a beautiful and picturesque fairyland. The canyon is filled with bird songs and the fragrance of flowers. The river is filled with fish and silver waves. On the day I visited Maodong, I met three fishermen in Maodong. They hit more than 40 Jin of fish. The big one is more than a foot long. The fish has a black back, a white belly, and its scales are silvery white. It has a sharp mouth. It has two true and false mouths. The real mouth is at the bottom, and the false mouth is at the top. The fisherman said that this fish is a unique species in this area . Boatman said that there are salamanders, Tuan fish, carp and horned fish in the river.
