Tracing back to the source
It was built in Ming Dynasty. In the early Qing Dynasty, it was renamed Huixiang Pavilion. The so-called "pilgrimage" is the final ceremony of the pilgrims returning from the rooftop to burn incense and worship, indicating that the activities of suppressing Jiuhua Mountain will come to a successful end. Zhixu, an eminent monk in the late Ming Dynasty, once lived here and studied Huayan scriptures. Incense flourished in the middle of Qing Dynasty. It was destroyed by war in Xianfeng Period. Later, it was revived by the abbot monk Changfa. In 1933, the abbot monk Zongxing. In 1942, the abbot monk Zonghui. In 1949, the abbot monk zhidu. In 1979, the main hall was demolished, leaving only a few squatters. From 1988 to 1990, the abbot Seng Ying Guan built two new auxiliary halls in the west of huayanling, facing south from north, with two front and back halls, palace style, with a building area of 414 square meters. In 1996, abbot Seng Huiguang expanded the 2-storey Zhaitang with a construction area of 269 square meters. From 1998 to 1999, a new Daxiong hall was built in the former site of the former hall. It faces south from the north and has two floors. It is of palace style, with double eaves and angles. It is of all wood structure. It is 21 meters long, 19 meters wide and 18 meters high, with a construction area of 560 square meters. rise and fall
Two old temples have been destroyed for a long time. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, Zhixu, an eminent monk, lived here. Incense flourished in the middle of Qing Dynasty. Master Huiguang plans to build a new Ouyi (Zhixu) memorial hall on the east side of the main hall, and build a seven storey Huayan pagoda on the South Ridge of the main hall. In front of the main hall, he plans to build a Mountain Gate hall, remove the auxiliary hall on the west side of the main hall, and build a dizang hall on its site. Huayanling is a mountain that must pass on the Tiantai from Jiuhua street. In the past, most pilgrims had the habit of burning incense in the back of Tiantai, so the temple was named Huixiang Pavilion. Huixiang Pavilion "stands high in the mountains, Tiantai mountains and Jiuhua temple, which is clear at a glance.". In the southwest, there is a 13 meter high Yingke pine with a trunk girth of 2 meters; in the southeast Valley, there is a Huayan well with a diameter of about 1 meter

Zhixu, an eminent monk of the Ming Dynasty, has been practicing for many years here. He has been studying Huayan scriptures and has written a lot of works. He describes master Zhixu's quiet and peaceful life. In the Qing Dynasty, the temple was destroyed by fire during the Xianfeng Period and never recovered. After opening to the outside world, the abbot Seng yingguan built two new side halls, but the restoration plan failed for some reason. In 1996, abbot Huiguang renovated the hall, Squatter room, main hall and Guanyin wall, with a total area of 2000 square meters. In front of the gate hall, there are three large-scale stone carvings of Guanyin wall made of Fujian Qingchao stone: on the front, Guanyin with thousands of hands and thousands of eyes, 4 meters high and 8 meters wide, with fan-shaped structure, engraved with "great compassion curse"; on the East, Guanyin with floating sea, engraved with "Heart Sutra"; on the north, Guanyin with purple bamboo forest, with "Baifu Baishou" on the front and "Jiulongbi" on the back. The stone quality is excellent and the cultural connotation is rich. The hall is carved with 9 pairs of couplets holding pillars, which is full of literary talent and evocative. Now Huayan Temple is a wonderful place for Jiuhua mountain cultural tourism.
