Dai'ao mountain is located in Lujiang County, Anhui Province. Because there is an east-west mountain range that rises abruptly from this hilly land, just like a giant Ao, it is called dai'ao mountain.

Overview of mountain system

Dai'ao mountain is located in the junction of Zongyang, Tongcheng and Lujiang counties, with the main body in leqiao town of Lujiang County. In the southeast direction, it rises abruptly in the hilly area covered with green shade and gentle slopes. It has nine peaks facing the big notch, winding, cutting off the mountain, and the rock is as steep as a cliff. Its highest peak is longwangding, 270 meters above sea level, just like a giant turtle.

In the west of Aoxi, there is a row of strange stones, which are orthotic in the front, box shaped in the middle, and human like in the back. It is very similar to the grand line of maidens getting married in the old days. Myth says that the sedan chair is the ten young ladies of the Dragon King. Because she hated the Dragon King for turning her beloved stone into a stone, she led her followers to live in the world forever. It is said that the ten young ladies are kind-hearted. The box beside her is a wedding dress. When a poor man marries a daughter-in-law, he borrows clothes from her and answers every request. And the poor are also very trustworthy and pay as you borrow. There was a rich man who was so jealous that he was ready to borrow a wedding dress from a young lady instead of paying it back. Just as he began to open the box to pick up his clothes, there was a flash of lightning and a thunderbolt in the sky, and the lid of the box was sealed. From then on, no one could borrow any more clothes.

It is said that dai'ao mountain was the boatman of the East China Sea in ancient times. The Dragon King of the East China Sea was very anxious because of the rise of Emperor Qin Shihuang's divine whip to drive the mountain to reclaim the sea. After consulting with Hongjun's ancestors, a giant Ao perched on the beach turned into a mountain, which is today's dai'ao mountain. Dai'ao mountain was deified, so it was always standing still no matter how Qin Shihuang drove it away. The king of Qin was so angry that he whipped three lashes, which opened three gaps in the mountain, namely, the big notch (also known as dahuakou) in the eastern part of the mountain, the small notch and the yangmeishankou in the western part of the mountain. To the east of daaokou, the mountain is divided into two peaks, one high and the other low. It is shaped like an unearthed bamboo shoot and stands in the sky. The high peak is called longwangding, which is the highest peak of dai'ao mountain. On the top of the peak stands a temple called Longwangmiao. The villagers, who have a radius of tens of miles, regard it as a weather forecast station. As a folk saying goes, "if the Dragon King Temple calls for clouds, it will turn cloudy on a sunny day.".

From the stone to the west across a ridge, you can see a gorge. On the west side of the gorge, there is a small flat land in the mountains. It's a beautiful and elegant environment. It's full of ancient trees, springs and birds. It is said that during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, three sisters of the Zhang family visited dai'ao mountain in spring. Seeing the beautiful scenery here, they vowed not to return home, so they built a "Xiaowei pure land nunnery" and practiced fasting. When the twelve robbers were disturbed, Jie Zhen was unyielding and buried beside the nunnery. Their stories are well-known among the people. When Zhang Ying, the Prime Minister of the Qing Dynasty, heard about them, he ordered someone to look up the genealogy and learned that the three saints were their third grandmothers. As a result, Zhang Tingyu, the tenth grandson of the three sisters of the Zhang family, the great scholar of the Kang, Yong and Qian dynasties, established a temple for them and expanded the "Xiaowei pure land nunnery" and renamed it "Sansheng nunnery", also known as "Sanzhen nunnery". Despite ten years of turmoil, a huge stone tablet erected by Zhang Tingyu and his brothers is still in good condition, and the destroyed nunnery has now been rebuilt.

In the west of Sansheng temple, there are two lion like peaks, one is called Yaojia Lion Peak, the other is called Yinjia Lion Peak, one female and one male. Cuddle up to each other. East, West, North and south, from a distance to a close view, the two lion peaks are vivid. On the Lion Peak, the grotesque rocks are very attractive. On the side of shizifeng in Yaojia, there is a Shau Kei type Valley, known as "Dragon King Hall". The three walls of the valley are made of strange rocks and rocks. The giant human shaped stones on the back wall are majestic and powerful, just like the dragon king sitting on the Dragon chair. There is a grave in the middle of the valley bottom, and a huge stele stands in front of it. It is said that "the tomb of Lord Yao in Cuilin, a scholar of Ming Dynasty". It turned out that he was the ancestor of Yao Nai, the great prose writer of Tongcheng school. It is also said that because the tomb was buried by Yao Xianggu, the imperial concubine of the Qing Dynasty, it was called "Xianggu tomb". Pass Yangmei mountain pass, is a mountain like cut off the peak, called Pingdingshan, also known as Gulin village. The terrain here is very dangerous. In history, there are many heroes in the forest who set up camp here. During the period of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Li Xiucheng's troops were stationed here, and all kinds of traces are still indisputable. At the foot of the mountain, the wanrenjing built by the Taiping army was a boon to the people.

To the east of the big notch, it is divided into two peaks, shaped like bamboo shoots, which stand in the sky. The highest peak is called longwangding. On the top of the peak, a temple is built, named "Longwangmiao", now called "longtiansi". The peak is magnificent, just like the head of a giant Ao. The local farmers regard it as a weather report. It is known as the proverb that "the Dragon King catches the clouds, whether it rains or turns overcast". Climbing on the top of the Dragon King, overlooking the mountains, is like the rolling waves in the East China Sea, mirage smoke trees, strange magic, and also like Penglai fairyland. At the foot of the mountain, there are leqiao Town, Nihe Town, Luohe Town, Qianqiao town and Qilin town in Lujiang County, Zongyang County. The five towns have a panoramic view, and the beautiful scenery is like a beautiful picture of mountains and rivers. On the left side of the peak is the Boji valley. On the side of the valley, there are three cliffs. The valley is a hundred feet deep. On the middle cliff, there is a huge stone. In the south of Weiwu mountain, there are three small peaks, which are shaped like a saddle, so it is called "Ma'an village". In the late Ming Dynasty, the peasant uprising army set up a camp here, but the village remains.

There are many beautiful and moving myths and legends in dai'ao mountain. The legendary dai'ao mountain was the boatman of the East China Sea in ancient times. Later, due to the crustal movement, the giant Ao perched on the beach became dai'ao mountain.

It is said that after that, Ying Zheng, the first emperor of Qin Dynasty, carried out tyranny and forced the common people to build the Great Wall. The Guanyin Bodhisattva pitied the common people and secretly gave them a red ribbon. The common people felt relaxed when they were working. The first emperor of Qin Dynasty questioned the common people's reasons and forced them to hand over all the red ribbons. The first emperor of Qin Dynasty whipped three lashes in dai'ao mountain, but dai'ao mountain was still because it was deified, leaving behind the magical legend that "three lashes can't drive dai'ao mountain". However, the first emperor of Qin Dynasty whipped three lashes to make three passes, namely big notch, small notch and bayberry pass, which divided the mountain into four sections.

ShiBeiling

There is Pingdingshan mountain at the northern foot of the mountain. The wind tunnel rock on the mountain is the second peak of dai'ao mountain. There is a hole at the top of the peak, which is filled with mirage and unfathomable. You can listen to the wind inside the cave, pull Artemisia into the cave, immediately dance and float out of the cave. In front of the cave is an nunnery, named wind tunnel nunnery. It was built in the Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty. There is a yellow peony with strong roots, luxuriant branches and beautiful flowers, which is not attractive every spring Few tourists come here.

If the notch is too large, it is ShiBeiling. There are a row of stalagmites on the ridge, which are like the guard of honor for the maids to marry. The strange stone maids are crowding around, and there are all kinds of clothes, boxes, beds and cabinets. It is widely spread that this is the witness of the love story between the ten young ladies of the Dragon King of the East China Sea and a simple local farmer.

Sanzhen nunnery

From here to the west, there is a gorge. There is an open area in the gorge. Surrounded by mountains, the ancient trees are towering and the streams are trickling. All the year round, birds are singing and singing. It's amazing that all the seasons are like spring. This is the famous Buddhist holy land inside and outside the province - "Sanzhen nunnery", formerly known as "Xiaowei Jingtu nunnery", also known as "Sansheng nunnery", which is the three grandmothers of Zhang Ying, the Prime Minister of the Qing Dynasty. The three sisters practice here. The three sisters carry forward Buddhism and widely perform good deeds. After their death, the people feel their kindness and build them into Buddha statues for generations to worship. During the reign of Yongzheng, Zhang Tingyu, the tenth grandson, rebuilt the temple and made a stele record of rebuilding Sanzhen nunnery, which is still in the nunnery. In recent years, Buddhist disciples continue to expand, the temple is grand and famous, there are many tourists all year round, and the temple is full of incense.

National peak

Passing through mushiling is the peak of Guojian mountain, which is located at the boundary of Tongxian, Luxian and Zongxian counties. There is an ancient temple called Hongjun temple at the bottom of the mountain. It is said that in order to discuss classics and Dharma with the Dragon King of the East China Sea at that time, juao supported the mountain. The temple was once deserted in the past and has been developed on a large scale. There are many strange rocks on the mountain, which has the beauty of natural ecological forest garden. The mountain echoes with the East and west of the Dragon King's top, as if Hongjun's ancestors and the Dragon King of the East China sea were talking about classics and Dharma.

Between the two mountains, there is a flat land of a little thousand mu, which is the Yao family cemetery. This is the cemetery that Yao family bought heavily for burial in Ming Dynasty. The geomantic omen is excellent. Close to the foot of the mountain, there is an ancient tomb, in front of which stands a stone tablet, engraved with "the tomb of Ming Zhongshu Sheren Yao Gong Cuilin". It is said that this tomb is the direct ancestor of Yao Nai, a great essayist of Tongcheng School in the Qing Dynasty, and the well-known "Yao's mushroom tomb" is also buried here. Before liberation, only the coffins of Yao's family could be buried here. After liberation, because of the geomantic omen, hundreds of thousands of tombs have been buried here for many years, and thousands of people come to the mountain to sweep the tombs during the winter solstice of Qingming.

The wonder of dai'ao mountain lies not only in its unique peaks, but also in its strange rocks. It has a radius of tens of miles, which is better than the stone bonsai garden. It is known as "Guilin in Anhui Province". All over the mountain, the rocks are jagged, lying or standing, rising or falling, like human beings, like birds. There are all kinds of animals. From east to west, caves, pillars and stalagmites emerge in endlessly.

Shishan

Further to the west is the famous lion mountain. The male lion stands tall and majestic. The female lion looks back and looks forward. One male and one female are dancing, calling forward and chasing back. Regardless of the distance and close range, the two lions are vivid. There are many wonderful and moving folklores here. There is a "Phoenix Mountain" under the male and female lions. Here is the cemetery of Zhu Haimen, the grandfather of the aesthetician Zhu Guangqian. At the foot of the mountain is a "Phoenix pool" (now built into the Hantang reservoir). This is where Zhu Guangqian's teenagers read in the morning and go fishing.
