Kangma Temple
The temple is located in chonggar village, 135 km away from Lhasa and 16 km away from Dangxiong county. It faces east in the West and nestles at the foot of Rima mountain (red mountain). It is a Gelug temple, belonging to the sera temple. It is directly managed by haldong village, the tantric monastery of sera temple. It has 62 monks, which is the largest temple in Dangxiong county
The main hall of Kangma temple now has three floors. The top floor of the temple was destroyed during the "Cultural Revolution" period and has been restored. The first and second floors were preserved as the commune's grain warehouse at that time. Some of the Buddhist temples and monk houses were allocated to households at that time. Among the surviving buildings, there is a small courtyard on the left side of the main hall and on the back of the grand kitchen of the temple, which is manilacan. Manilacan is an early place for religious activities outside the monastic cave.
Manilacan is the oldest building in the temple. It is ordinary in appearance and has nothing special. However, the carved stone wall preserved in the house deeply attracts everyone who enters the hut. Without the guidance of people in the know, we can't imagine that the dilapidated anti "L" shaped house has intact carved stone statues of 300 years ago, and the six walls in the room are full The roof of the house is low, no more than three meters high, and the corner of the wall protrudes inward, which is very rare. According to the design idea, it may have been specially built to worship and protect this group of stone carvings.
According to local monks, it was originally built by kangmatui shengchengjinmeibawo, the son of the cangba couple from Guoluo Kangma, to worship his mother, and the name of "Kangma" came from this.
