Chezhai Drum Tower

Chezhai Drum Tower is located in the north end of chezhai village, Chemin Township, Rongjiang County, Guizhou Province, 2 kilometers away from the county. The drum tower was built in 1808 to celebrate the birth of Yang Tingfang. Due to lack of management, it was damaged in Xianfeng and repaired in 1891. After the maintenance by the government in 1983, it was renamed "chezhai Drum Tower", which has been in use until now. In 2019, the government will repair it again to show its new appearance. In 1843, Yang Tingfang was elected, and in 1845, Yang Tingrui, Yang Tingfang's younger brother, was elected. Therefore, the Yang family named the attic "Er Di Ge" (implying that two people are equal, although they are not Jinshi, both brothers are elected).

In 2019, after the efforts of Yang's descendants and other related parties, the main pillars and wooden fangs are all original components. The drum tower shows a new look and continues to stand on the original site.

In 1845, when Zheng Ziyi was a tutor in Guzhou and a lecturer in Rongcheng academy, he went to chezhai to celebrate the Double Ninth Festival at the invitation of his friend Yang Tingfang and wrote a poem while drinking. The poem says: "the giant Pavilion is towering and protruding across the sky, and the clay claw of Tianjiao prints Feihong. Due to the wind and the sun, the boundless rivers and mountains are in the eyes. In the future, Wang Kouchi won, and Chongyang made friends with seven people. We should not change the way of the wine hall, but belong to the old jade Bureau. " It can be proved that the drum tower was originally built as a family Pavilion.

The main building faces south with triple eaves and four corners. Surrounded by walls, the couplet of the walls and doors is: "all around rivers and mountains, 30 li of Chejiang dam; all kinds of beautiful southeast first floor of Guizhou Province". Chezhai dam is one of the largest Tianba in Dong area, and chezhai is one of the largest villages in Dong area. Chezhai Drum Tower stands in the village, higher than the houses, especially spectacular. Beside the drum tower, there is a satang, which is a sacred place for the local Dong people to offer sacrifices to the highest goddess of the Dong people, sasui, adding a lot of mystery to the building.
