Baichachuan rock painting
There are mountains on both sides of the middle and lower reaches of the Baicha river. At the bottom of the mountain, there are many vertical walls of basalt. On the rocks, more than 200 rock paintings of 48 groups in 9 places have been carved and painted, ranging from Changyi slate house and heluogoumen (where the former flag zasak was stationed and Emperor Kangxi once stayed), to Guangyi, dahelong and gelaoyingzi in wanheyong Township, with a total length of more than 60 kilometers. The river course is winding. On the rocks on both sides of the river, you can see vivid rock paintings. Therefore, both sides of the Baicha River are also known as "Baili Gallery".

Rock paintings are the works of art carved on stones by ancient ancestors, and also the records of their production activities and living scenes. Rock painting is not the result of painting by several people of a nation or a tribe, but a bright pearl in the treasure house of rock painting of several people. It is a treasure of ancient rock painting art. Baichachuan has a long history and splendid ancient culture. The entry of "baichashan" in Cihai is interpreted as: "baichashan is in the border of northern Hebei Province and southeastern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, at the junction of sukexielu mountain, Daqun mountain and Qilaotu mountain, and at the source of Xilamulun River in the upper reaches of Xiliao River." Historical data and rock paintings show that the 140 km long Baicha river basin is the cradle of the Shang ancestors. After the Shang moved to the Yellow River Valley, Donghu people lived in it and created the "Xiajiadian upper culture" with Donghu culture as the main body Two Neolithic sites have been found in the mountainous area where the Baichahe rock paintings are concentrated. There are a large number of stone knives, axes, hoes, sickles, needles, etc. on the sites, as well as rough Paleolithic choppers and scrapers. It is proved that Baicha rock painting originated more than 6000 years ago in Neolithic age and ended more than 1000 years ago in Liao Dynasty. There are more than 200 rock paintings in Baili mountains and rivers, with various themes and rich contents, involving production and life, national emblem, religion, sacrifice, celestial nebula, face map, totem worship and many other aspects. Most of the rock paintings are made of deer, as well as animals such as sun, moon and stars, cattle, horses, wild boars, dogs, tigers, leopards, etc. The composition of these rock paintings is exquisite, the lines are smooth, rough and delicate, clumsy and dexterous, simple and modern, reality and abstract. The most famous "deer shadow", the deer look different on the screen, and feel ready to come out. When the shower stops, the rock paintings will take on a new look. The deer will either stand or run, or stand and listen, or watch. They will come and go at once, and the sky deer will walk in the sky, and they will come and go alone.
legend
There are many beautiful legends about Baicha rock paintings: in history, in the 23rd year of Kangxi (1684) and the 28th year of Kangxi (1689), Kangxi visited Baicha twice. According to these historical truths, there is a saying that Emperor Kangxi went out on a tour and made his shadow shine on the wall. Legend has it that "the picture of deer's shadow" is also a picture of Kangxi climbing wulanba mountain pass. When he saw the green mountains and green waters and the deer eating grass, Emperor Kangxi waved his hand and said, "this scene should be permanent in the world." The holy word can't be disobeyed, so there is the deer shadow picture of Yufeng. Baicha rock painting is not only a major cultural landscape in northern China. At the same time, he was wearing a veil of mystery. In 1998, Chinese and foreign experts from the International Symposium on ancient culture in northern China specially came here for research and investigation. Through these rock paintings, they studied the production and life, religious and folk activities of the ancestors, and understood the history of development and progress of the Chinese nation.
