It was built in 1574, the second year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty, and rebuilt in 1794, the 59th year of Qianlong in Qing Dynasty. Because the original site is located in the downstream "lanxiqiao reservoir" water storage area, it was relocated and built here in 1984. As for the name of the bridge, in addition to Qingyuan county annals, it is also recorded in Lanxi County annals that the people of Lanxi bridge settled here and got the name of Lanxi village. Xie Zilong and others from Houyi built the bridge beside the village in the second year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty and named it Lanxi bridge.
Lanxi bridge is a long-span wooden arch bridge with overhanging arms. It is like a flying rainbow and skillfully connects the Western Palace with the highway. The bridge is 48.12 meters long, 5 meters wide and 9.4 meters high from the river bed. The appearance of the arch is octagonal, and it is composed of dozens of thick logs. It has the functions of compression resistance, bending resistance and lateral displacement resistance. There are three layers of wind deflectors on both sides, which are in the shape of a bridge skirt. The structure principle of the bridge is a masterpiece in the history of folk bridge architecture in China.
Ding Lianghan, the magistrate of Qingyuan County in qingguangxu Hanlin, wrote a poem: "when Lanxi bridge goes into the water, the water will flow at night; when there are guests who stay here, they will work hard in this life; when an official keeps a low salary, he will never pay for the wine; when he wants to go back to the field for a long time, he will be kind to his relatives for a long time." This feeling and this scene can make sentimental people of ancient and modern times express their chest fan feelings and feel sad about the past.
What the ancients said is of course the Lanxi bridge on the original site. In fact, today's Lanxi bridge is located in the place of Fengshui Kaiyang, which can be said to be better than anything else. It forms a perfect combination with the Western Palace.
