Fuyuan Forest Recreation Area
Located in Fuyuan village, Ruisui Township, Hualien County, about 78 km away from Hualien City, it is a forest recreation area featuring camphor forest and butterflies, with a total area of 190 hectares. It has the largest camphor forest area in Taiwan, where more than 40 species of butterflies gather, forming a beautiful butterfly valley from April to July every year.
The Fuyuan River, a tributary of xiuguluan River, runs through the whole area. The boulders in the valley are magnificent, with strange shape and original and magnificent landscape. There are hot springs coming out near the valley. Along the valley upstream, you can see a Fuyuan waterfall at the end. The water of the waterfall rushes down from the cliffs, forming a water curtain landscape, and then flows into the pool in front of the waterfall. The water rolls down and becomes a two-layer curtain waterfall, which is very spectacular. There are also various recreational facilities in the forest recreation area to provide tourists with holiday leisure and fitness use, such as dew camp area, barbecue area, bird garden appreciation area and physical fitness training ground, etc. there are also footpaths in the area that can pass through the ridge of the valley, which is a good route for hiking.
