Daxia University
In 1924, more than 300 teachers and students of Xiamen University left Xiamen University in pursuit of democracy and came to Shanghai. Wang Boqun, Euro Huai, Wang Yuxiang and others donated money to establish Daxia University at the request of out of school youth. The name of the university means "Everbright China". Wang Boqun, a pioneer, statesman and educator of modern democratic revolution, was one of the main founders of Daxia University. He served as the chairman and President of Daxia University successively. With years of efforts, the University developed into a famous comprehensive university at that time. Daxia university is one of the earliest universities to implement tutorial system and general education in China. Guanghua University
Guanghua University was founded in 1925. Since 1952, in order to adapt to the rapid development of junior middle schools and the urgent need for teachers, the school has held a series of specialized classes on a large scale.

Ten years of the Cultural Revolution
In the ten years of the "Cultural Revolution", the national higher education was seriously damaged. From 1966 to 1969, East China Normal University did not recruit students for four years in a row. In 1970, it began to recruit students, but the scale was very small.
In May 1972, influenced by the cultural revolution, the University merged with Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai part-time work study normal university, Shanghai Institute of education, Shanghai Institute of physical education, etc., and was renamed "Shanghai Normal University".
During the "Cultural Revolution", the scientific research work of the University was severely damaged. However, out of a high sense of responsibility for the cause, many scientific and technological personnel overcame various difficulties and continued to study some basic problems and problems urgently needed to be solved in production and construction. As a result, they also made a number of scientific research achievements.
