The special landscape of Wudang Mountain, which is formed by many peaks and worships in all directions, also magically shows the supremacy of imperial power. Taihe palace is the highest scenic spot in Wudang Mountain. Whether it's a Taoist, a believer or a pilgrim, only when you reach the peak and enter Taihe palace can you really reach Wudang Mountain.
Development history
In the 10th year of Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Di, the founder of the Ming Dynasty, ordered the construction of Taihe palace. After the completion of the palace, Wudang Mountain was granted the title of "great mountain Taihe mountain", and the Taoist palace built on the top of the mountain was granted the Title of "great mountain Taihe Palace". The emperor's Jiafeng made Wudang Mountain the top of the five mountains.
During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, the Taihe palace was expanded to 520 rooms. After that expansion, the name of the building changed. It is bounded by the Jinding wall. The outside wall is called "Taihe Palace", and the inside wall is called "Zijin City". "There is the Forbidden City in the north and the Zijin City in the South". It can be seen that the Supreme Harmony palace was second only to the Imperial Palace in Beijing at that time.
The overall architectural layout of Taihe palace is based on the natural danger of living in the mountains, taking full advantage of the natural ups and downs of the mountain shape; in terms of construction, it adds solemnity by virtue of its precipitousness, so as to achieve the solemn and grand artistic effect, making people feel the steadiness in suspension and the majesty of walking alone in the sky. The ancients praised it as "a thousand storied Pavilion rising from the sky, a thousand fold cloud mountain foot ring", and said that it was "a supplement to the legacy of the Qin emperor and the Han Dynasty It is rare in all dynasties.
The experts of world cultural heritage, space science and architecture who have been to Wudang Mountain are all amazed at the architectural ideas reflected in the Taihe palace and the high degree of unity of human landscape and natural landscape, and highly praise this "masterpiece of antiquity, unprecedented and never to come".
In the 14th year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty, Taihe palace was built in Tianzhu peak of Wudang Mountain. And at that time, Tianzhu peak peak around the top did not see this ring of walls. In the 17th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Di, Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty, ordered Zhang Xin, Hou of Longping, and Mu Xin, Du Wei, Emperor's son-in-law, to build the Zijin City of Tianzhu peak. Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty issued an imperial edict to the construction of the city wall, saying: "the Jinding city wall should not be built around the city, the mountain itself should not be built, and the wall should follow the terrain We must be strong and solid. "
The whole project took five years to complete. The perimeter of the wall is 344 meters, which is built with huge stones. It is dangerous, but it is firm and stable. It is like a halo around the Golden Summit, which is amazing. On the city wall, four heavenly gates were built to symbolize the tianque. The four heavenly gates stand in the sky and try their best to exaggerate the majesty of the celestial world
Main attractions
Golden Palace
Taihe palace is the same as other Taoist palaces in terms of Architectural Regulations, but because there is a golden hall above it, its original main hall has been downgraded and is called "Chaosheng hall". In the temple, there are statues of bronze and gold-plated Xuanwu, Thunder God and Lingguan. During the Ming Dynasty, pilgrims and believers, including those in Shandao, paid homage to the Xuanwu emperor only until here. It was absolutely not allowed to go to Jinding. They could only look at the golden palace from a distance.
Huangjing Hall
The Huangjing hall in Taihe palace is the place where Taoists chant scriptures every morning and evening. It is also an important place for Wudang Taoism to offer sacrifices. This temple, which was destroyed by fire in the late Ming Dynasty and rebuilt during the reign of Emperor Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty, is extremely rich. All of its doors are embossed with stories of rare birds and animals and Taoist immortals. Its craftsmanship is exquisite and has a strong color of folk culture. The statues, sacrificial utensils and magic utensils in Huangjing hall are all exquisite works of foundry art and carving art. In the center of the hall, the huge plaque of "living heaven and standing earth" was written by Emperor Daoguang of Qing Dynasty.
Bronze Hall
There is a hall on xiaolianfeng in Taihe palace, in which is a bronze hall cast in Yuan Dynasty. This bronze hall, which has a history of nearly 700 years, is a kind of imitation wood structure. It is a precious object to study the bronze casting art of the Yuan Dynasty, and also the earliest existing copper hall in China. Because it was originally placed on Tianzhu peak, it was transported here when the golden hall was built in the Ming Dynasty, so it is also called "transit hall". With its homophony, many pilgrims and tourists turn around in order to "turn the tide"
The Golden Summit on the summit of Tianzhu's main peak in Wudang Mountains is the essence and symbol of Wudang Mountains. It is also the symbol of Wudang Taoism reaching the peak of prosperity under the support of the royal family.
