Tongjiyan is located at the edge of Yantou village, Bihu Town, Liandu District, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province. It was built in 505 A.D., the fourth year of Xiaoliang Tianjian in the Southern Dynasty. It has a history of 1500 years. It is the oldest large-scale water conservancy project in Zhejiang Province. On June 25, 2001, as an ancient building from the Southern Dynasties to the Qing Dynasty, tongjiyan was approved by the State Council to be listed in the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
Tongji weir consists of water retaining dam, channel and sluice. The arch shaped dam is 275 meters long, 25 meters wide and 2.5 meters high. It was originally a wooden structure and was changed into a stone dam in the Southern Song Dynasty. It is a water conservancy project with both water diversion and drainage.
