Nanshan Temple
Nanshan Temple has two monasteries of the same name in China. One is Nanshan Temple in Huangxian County, Longkou City; the other is Nanshan Temple, which is commonly known as Nan'an. It is located at the south end of Xinchang Town Street, Pudong New Area, Shanghai. On May 29, 2002, Nan'an temple was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Nanhui District.
Nanshan Temple in Longkou
The predecessor of Nanshan Temple is Shiquan temple, the oldest and most famous temple in Huangxian county (today's Longkou City). According to the county annals, Buddhism was introduced in the Tang Dynasty. "From the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, Buddhism flourished, and there must be temples in more than 800 villages in the County. Shiquan temple in the southwest of the city (now Nanshan) is the oldest temple in the territory. It was founded in the reign of Zhenguan of Tang Dynasty. "
In 1999, in order to develop tourism, Shiquan temple was renovated and renamed "Nanshan Temple". After the renovation, Nanshan Temple is restored to its old appearance and has a new look. The overall architectural momentum is magnificent, covering an area of 40000 square meters and a building area of 9800 square meters. In the middle of the mountain gate, there are Maitreya hall, Mahatma hall, Yuantong hall, and Sutra Pavilion; in the East, there are bell tower, dizang hall, Jialan hall, Dongfang Sansheng hall, Bodhi hall, and Manjusri hall; in the west, there are Drum Tower, zushi hall
In the west, there are three temples, the hall of universal sages.
Nanshan Temple in Xinchang
Nanshan Temple, commonly known as Nan'an, is located at the south end of Xinchang Town Street, Pudong New Area, Shanghai. It was built by Seng Zhao in 1306, the 10th year of the Yuan Dynasty. It was originally named chang'ji'an. In 1644, the first year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, Seng Jiuru was rebuilt. In 1864, the Abbot's party was able to raise money to repair the statue and set up 3.33 hectares of Xiangji farmland. The old Lei Zu Pavilion is still in decay. There are 38 houses in Nanshan Temple. There are Buddha statues such as Tathagata, Sakyamuni, Guanyin and Leizu in the temple. Behind the temple, there are three ancient ginkgo trees, two of which are now in existence. They are large trees with several mu of shade, all of which have been planted for hundreds of years. Nanshan Temple was once used by Xinchang plastic printing factory. In 2000, the plastic printing factory was relocated, the temple was gradually renovated and opened to the outside world.
On May 29, 2002, Nanshan Temple was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Nanhui District.
