Wolong cave is located in Xunlong mountain scenic spot, Beichuan County, Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, 5 kilometers away from the county seat. From Tashan (or Hainong) to songjiawan, Yuanbaoshan, you can see the cave. Outside the cave, there are canteens, parking lots, public toilets, and other ancillary facilities. Inside the cave, there is a special lighting line. You can travel by land and water. The journey is about 1 km.

The cave is divided into three layers: upper, middle and lower, with about 4000 meters of land and water boating passage. The unique conglomerate structural angle emits a low amount of gamma rays (gamma rays), which has an excellent effect on promoting human blood circulation and preventing colds. It witnesses the geological phenomena on the earth 200 million years ago and reproduces the magical geological evolution process 200 million years ago. It is called "natural geological museum" by geologists.

Wolong cave is composed of eight halls, and four halls have been developed as of December 2008. There are many scenic spots in the cave, with good development, complete types of deposits and high grade. There are a large area of double petal edge stone dam; a large area of water; stalagmites, stone mantles, stone pillars and other deposits are everywhere. The four halls have different styles; the first hall is exquisite, the second hall is magnificent, the third hall is vivid, and the fourth hall is like a fairyland. How deep is Wolong cave in Xunlong mountain? How many bifurcations are there? When will the mysterious animal like a dog show its true face? From 2003 to 2007, explorers entered the Wolong cave for five years in a row, hoping to uncover the mystery of Wolong cave which has not been solved since ancient times. In late November 2004, CCTV's "whimsical" column team cooperated with a professional cave exploration company in Chongqing. It took seven days to go 700 meters underground, but it still failed.

How deep is Wolong cave?

Wolong cave, formerly known as Longquan cave, was once an important nitrate producing area in Anxian County, also known as "nitrate cave" and "Tangjia cave". Wolong cave has been developed for more than 10 kilometers, forming a long and narrow loop. An island, two underground rivers, three cascades and four corridors have been found. The cave is tall and open, with Bell breasts hanging in the air. One of the favorite questions for tourists here is: how deep is Wolong cave?

From the 1960s to the 1990s, some individuals or organizations launched exploration activities for many times, and initially found that the depth of the cave was nearly 700 meters. In late November 2004, CCTV's "whimsical" column team cooperated with a professional cave exploration company in Chongqing to form a scientific research team, carrying professional equipment to 700 meters underground, hoping to accurately explore the depth of the cave.

The scientific research team successively explored the three entrances of Wolong cave, namely Bodhisattva cave, dongziwan cave and Zhakou cave. The three caves are two or three kilometers away from the front mountain exit of Wolong cave, and the distance between the three caves is about two kilometers. Through comprehensive exploration, it is confirmed that the longest hole that can pass through people normally is more than 700 meters, and the shortest one is only tens of meters. But the water system of the three caves is connected with Wolong cave. The water system is interlinked, which means that the three caves should be connected, but without artificial development, they can't pass people for the time being.

Many explorations have yet to be solved

According to Tang Jun, an engineer of Xunlong mountain scenic spot who participated in the scientific exploration, the results of the main cave and the three caves do not mean that he has a comprehensive understanding of Wolong cave. In addition to the main tunnel, there are still many bifurcated tunnels that have not been fully mastered, and the crisscross bifurcated tunnels are divided into upper, middle and lower layers. 20 caves have been basically identified, some of which have been used for emergency access and some for scenic spots, such as the "big and small moon city", "Penglai fairyland" and "adventure wonders" in the main cave, most of which are connected. In order to find out the direction of the cave, they explored the cave many times. In July 1996, he and five surveyors found a hidden fork in the Wolong cave near Penglai fairyland. All six of them brought miner's lamps into the cave. In some places of the cave, there is a space as big as several houses. In some places, the space is only tens of centimeters. People have to lie on the ground to get in. After more than 500 meters in the cave, it took more than three hours, and four miner's lamps went out. They did not dare to rush forward any more.

In November 2004, it took seven days to explore the main cave about 3600 meters long, and made a systematic scientific investigation on the Chadong about 250 meters long, which has not yet been developed and is unknown. According to Wang Yong, an engineer of Chongqing aotedo exploration team, they have visited more than half of China and explored many underground caves and underground rivers, but they have never encountered such large-scale caves as Wolong cave.

It is understood that Wolong cave was first developed in 1986. It was only 680 meters from the former mountain. It is also the first floor of Wolong cave in the scenic spot. In the same year, it tried to enter from Houshan Bodhisattva cave. However, the cave at the bottom of Tiankeng was only developed about 20 meters deep and encountered a vertical cave more than 30 meters deep. Because of the huge project and no one dares to venture down, the project had to stop. The second development was carried out in November 1995. At that time, several Tibetan cadres who had a lot of research on caves were organized to explore and survey the caves. The survey in the cave lasted for more than eight months, and the construction started in September 1996. It took nearly two years to develop another 2720 meters, a total of 3400 meters.

After the scientific research and exploration of CCTV's "whimsical" column, Xunlong mountain scenic area has invested millions of yuan to explore and develop Wolong cave for more than two years, forming a scale. However, it still has no comprehensive understanding of the mysterious and crisscrossing Chadong, and how deep the cave is.

In September 2003, when the stone forest on the right side of Xunlong mountain was developed in Xunlong mountain scenic area, it was found that there were some huge cracks in the ground, and the air gushing from below had the same characteristics as Wolong Cave: dry, warm in winter and cool in summer. Engineers and technicians put thermometers down from the ground crevice. The average temperature is 18 degrees and the measuring depth is 5-30 meters. Throw stones down and make a loud noise. It can be inferred that there is a huge cave on the right side of Xunlong mountain, and whether it is connected with Wolong cave on the left side is still unknown.

According to the analysis of professional explorers, it is very likely that the caves on the left and right sides are interlinked. If so, there is a huge hole under the whole Xunlong mountain scenic spot.

Wolong cave has a huge area and abundant water. There are many unusual animals in the cave. One of the products is a small transparent fish. This kind of fish generally does not exceed two centimeters, can see the fish's viscera and veins clear skeleton. Spring and autumn are especially abundant, but they usually don't swim out of the cave. In addition, turtles, minks and even giant salamanders were found in the caves.

Workers working in the cave often hear a sound similar to that of a dog. Worker Zhang Baojian said that this kind of call is like a new born dog, which is sometimes sent out, but can't be heard when people approach. Zhang Baojian said that this kind of cry is not like the cry of the giant salamander, because he is very familiar with the cry of the giant salamander.

People from Beichuan Hydropower Bureau said that in the special environment of Wolong cave, some species may have changed for a long time, and this mysterious animal may be a variety of giant salamander. However, it does not rule out the possibility of other animals. When this mysterious animal will show its true face is also a mystery to be solved.

How did the mysterious Wolong cave come into being? According to the investigation of geological experts, Wolong cave was originally a section of underground river. Due to the crustal movement, the river gradually rose into a cave. Wolong cave is also full of humanistic charm.
