Fubo Temple
Fubo temple in Hengxian County is located on the North Bank of wumantan, Yujiang River, Longmentang village, Liuhe village committee, Yunbiao town. It is a sacrificial building built in memory of Fubo General Ma Yuan's southern expedition to Jiaozhi in Eastern Han Dynasty (now in the north and south of Vietnam), pacifying the people, dredging the river for navigation, and benefiting one side. The existing Fubo temple is built in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and is one of the only five Ming Dynasty wooden frame buildings in Guangxi. The whole building can be regarded as a model of Lingnan ancient architecture.
Fubo temple in Hengxian County is a group of distinctive architectural groups. It is composed of temple gate, archway, front hall, main hall, side hall, back hall, corridor and altar. They form a closed courtyard with the altar as the center. On both sides of the temple gate are bell and drum towers. The symmetrical bell tower and drum tower were obviously built under the influence of Buddhism, because the local ancestral halls in China generally do not use big bells and drums, so they will not be built beside the temples.
In 2013, the State Administration of cultural relics released the list of the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units approved and published by the State Council. Among them, Fubo temple in Hengxian County, which was announced as a cultural relic protection unit at the autonomous region level in 1994, is listed.
brief introduction
Fubo temple is a national key cultural relic protection unit. According to preliminary research, it was built in the Eastern Han Dynasty and has been repaired since then. The existing building is the building of Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is one of the only five Ming Dynasty wooden frame buildings in Guangxi. It covers an area of more than 1400 square meters and has a building area of 990 square meters It is the largest and best preserved ancient architecture commemorating Ma Yuan in Lingnan area.
Architectural features
The bell drum tower and gallery Hall of Fubo temple in Hengxian County were built in the Ming Dynasty. It can be seen from the ruins that the architectural design and structure are almost the same as in the past. They are rectangular in plane, and their structural form is the combination of crossing the bucket and lifting the beam. The bell tower raises the four columns and raises the roof with four columns. The railings on the second floor are blue brick walls, and the blue tile eaves on the roof are inverted. It not only has a kind of light momentum, but also has the function of preventing rain. It kisses two flying carp on the main ridge, and the front shape is quite beautiful and generous.
In the front hall, eaves and sandalwood are supported by heavy arches of eaves and columns. There are exquisite sparrows and stone lions at the junction of arches and columns. In the roof truss structure, beams, Fang, Dou Gong, Kou Zan, Tian Xu, etc. all achieve the harmony of function and art. On the whole, it is also an ancient building with exquisite art. On the walls around the temple, there are many mural reliefs depicting pastoral scenery and myths and legends, which are exquisite and gorgeous. There are also a variety of generals, officials and generals. On the main ridge, there are two dragons playing with pearls, and sculptures of lions, birds, fish, flowers and grass. They are extremely gorgeous, vivid and lifelike. The roof of the main hall is lifted and folded gently, and the overhanging eaves are extended and elegant. There are many stone pillars in the hall. The stone carving on the base of the pillars is exquisite, with lotus shape, tower shape and so on. The beam frame is made of huge materials, and the bottom surface has fine carving. The whole structure is a typical example of architecture in Ming and Qing Dynasties.
In addition, there is another ingenious masterpiece of Fubo Temple: the ancient trees around the temple are towering, lush and leafy, but no leaf falls on the roof of the main hall despite the change of seasons, strong west wind and yellow leaves all over the ground. The green tile surface is always so neat and clean, which is amazing. It turns out that the architect specially arranged the design according to the mountain terrain here. Fubo temple is located on the paraboloid of Jifeng Valley, with its back to the north. The wind is mainly from the southwest. Here, a rising air current is formed. The wind blows from the roof truss to the tile surface, and the cool wind is blowing on the tile surface. Therefore, although the west wind is fierce and the leaves are rustling, there will not be a leaf blowing down on the roof of the hall. People marvel at it and think it is the power of the general, which is also a major feature of Fubo temple. In 1985, Fubo temple was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit; in 1994, it was upgraded to a district level cultural relics protection unit.
