Dalajia island is the second largest island in Daya Bay. It is only about 10 nautical miles away from Aotou port and CNOOC Shell project. It was originally called Dalajia, which means that the six islands are the same. Fishermen here used to speak Chaoshan dialect. Because the word "six" in Chaoshan dialect means "spicy", it is used to be called Lajia island.
Dalajia island covers an area of 2.64 square kilometers, with many natural beaches and many rare marine plants. It is an ecological island with beautiful scenery.
After the comprehensive exploration and planning of the island, the island is planned to be fully developed by stages. The total planned investment is 1 billion yuan, which will be promoted in five years. In the first phase, 200 million yuan will be invested to build high standard hotels and related tourism facilities.
Investment Development
Dalajia island used to be an important military area. After it was converted to civilian use, Dalajia island became a salt fish acquisition and processing base under Huiyang Fisheries Bureau.
In the early 1990s, some investors started the hotel service industry here, and then closed down for some reason.
In 1998, the tourism departments of Huiyang and Daya Bay began to open Dalajia island to tourists as a scenic spot. Dalajia island then changed hands many times, due to its lack of investment, poor tourism facilities, has been operating miserably.
Daya Bay Tourism Bureau believes that the rent and sale of Dalajia Island indicates the arrival of spring for the real development of Dalajia island. With the commissioning of CNOOC and shell, the construction of 12 million ton oil refining project and the settlement of a large number of downstream projects, the tourism service industry around Daya Bay will continue to heat up, and Dalajia island will also rise.
Island Management
On December 20, 2002, the executive meeting of Huizhou Municipal Government deliberated and passed the Interim Provisions on the administration of the development and utilization of uninhabited islands and surrounding sea areas in Huizhou City, which was officially promulgated and implemented. This is the first island development and management regulation in the forefront of the country.
The Interim Provisions on the administration of the development and utilization of uninhabited islands and their surrounding sea areas in Huizhou encourages units and individuals to make scientific development and utilization of the resources of uninhabited islands and their surrounding sea areas, but it should conform to the island development and protection plan, give full play to the best functions of the Island, and take the road of sustainable development.
The bay of Huizhou City is close to Hong Kong and Shenzhen, which is rich in port resources and tourism resources. In order to adapt to this development situation, it issued the Interim Regulations on island development and management. With the completion of CNOOC shell Nanhai petrochemical project in Daya Bay, the development and utilization of island port resources and tourism resources here has entered a new climax.
