The ancestral hall of the Shang Dynasty is mainly composed of the gate of the three merchants, Fushang Avenue, Wanshang square, shangzu hall, sanshang Avenue, huaxilou, Kaibo terrace, etc.
Shangzu hall, also known as Wanghai hall.
It is 16 meters high, 16.8 meters deep and 7 rooms wide. It is the memorial site of Wang Hai 1854-1803 BC, the ancestor of Chinese merchants.
Wang Hai is the seventh king of Xia Dynasty.
He is the sixth grandson of Qiaobo and the seventh grandson of Shangtang. Because Wang Hai started business and brought benefits to mankind, he was deeply worshipped by later generations and was regarded as the "ancestor of Chinese merchants". Shangqiu was also known as the "capital of Chinese merchants".
In the west of shangzu hall, the main hall is called "God of wealth hall", which is dedicated to bi Gan, the God of wealth; in the East, the main hall is called "Guandi hall", which is dedicated to Guan Yu, the God of wealth.
The two halls are imitated Han architecture, 9.8 meters high, 10.8 meters deep and 3 rooms wide.
The gate of three merchants is designed with three deformed oracle bone inscriptions "Shang" as the basic shape. The top of the gate is carved with Xuanniao, which means "Xuanniao begets Shang".
The three "Shang" shaped doors are connected, implying that they are the source of the Shang tribe, the source of merchants and commerce, and the earliest capital of the Shang Dynasty.
The color of the tone is red, which means the birthplace of fire and the prosperous business.
Fushang Avenue, 9 meters wide, starts from the gate of the square, passes through Wanshang square and extends to the statue of Wang Hai.
The road of rich merchants is composed of currency patterns of various historical periods.
The implication of the road of rich merchants is to enrich Shangqiu and merchants.
Wang Hai's identity and status, as well as the nature and purpose of his activities, determined that he was a "king and businessman".
This statue not only shows the king's spirit and great family style, but also shows the wisdom and shrewdness of businessmen. The figure's modeling is dynamic and realistic, and the facial expression is kind and friendly. It accurately reflects the unique temperament and physical characteristics of the Central Plains people.
