The legend of Beinan River
There is a beautiful legend around the winding Beinan river.
It is said that a long time ago, Beinan was not a plain. In spring, there was a lot of rain, green grass, and cattle and sheep were bouncing on the plain. But in summer and autumn, it didn't rain for months. The grass has dried up, and the countryside has become desolate. People sighed and agreed to go to the mountain to get the spring water. The mountain is high and the road is long. It's not easy to get water. The little water we get back is not enough for people and animals to drink. Therefore, villagers are looking forward to rain day and night.
There is a young man named Hassi. According to the old man, in the far north, there is a fairy with crane hair and childlike face. As long as he can find him, he will give happiness water to the world. Hassi was very happy to hear that, and the next day he took a machete and Ciba to the road. In order to find water and irrigate the land of his hometown, Hassi went all out day and night, climbing mountains after mountains, and I don't know how many roads he took.
One morning, when he came to a bamboo forest, he saw an old man with white hair coming towards him. Hassy was very happy. He bowed and asked, "are you a fairy?" The old man said with a smile, "are you the bravest boy?" Hassi replied, "yes. Please tell me what to do The old man said, "far away from here in the north, there is an old woman who keeps a vicious dog. At night, her eyes shine and she bites when she sees people. I don't know how many passers-by are killed. Can you bring the dog here? " After hearing this, Hassy nodded his head, said goodbye to the old man, and went on to the north with great strides. Seeing that summer was coming again, Hassi wanted to fly to the north with his wings on. He immediately took the dog to the old man.
Soon, Hassi came to the foot of a barren mountain. An old woman came out of a hut and asked, "young man, how did you get here? Don't you know there's a man eating dog in my family? You go! It's too dangerous here. " Hassi took out the Ciba and said to the old woman, "grandma, these Ciba are for you to eat. Let me stay. I'm not afraid of dogs." When the old woman saw that the young man was beautiful, friendly and kind-hearted, she asked him to come in and sit down. When Hassi saw that there was a comb on the table, he took the comb to help the old woman comb her hair. He combed it. When the old woman didn't pay attention, he hid the white hair in his pocket and rubbed it with sticky Ciba. At this time, it was getting dark. Hassy begged the old woman to let him see the dog. She didn't want to change her face and said, "it's not for fun. The dog wants to eat people!" Hassi begged again and again, but she had no choice but to let him have a look at the dog. Grandma opened the door of the dog house, and immediately a fierce dog came out of it. Hassi was quick in his hand and put Ciba mixed with hair into his mouth. The dog didn't chew a few mouthfuls, but its mouth stuck and it couldn't bite any more. The old woman said, "it doesn't bite any more. Take it away."
Hassi said goodbye to her grandmother and walked in the same direction with her dog at night. Along the way, he was so happy that he walked so fast that he couldn't even keep up with the dog. A few days later, he found the old man with white hair and gave him the dog. He asked the old man to lead the happy water to Beinan village as soon as possible. With a smile on his face, the old man untied the gourd and handed it to Hassi, saying, "brave young man, many people died when they went to find this dog, but you subdued it. Break the gourd Hassi held the gourd in both hands and threw it to the ground. The gourd split into several pieces, and the water flowed out. In the blink of an eye, it merged into a small lake. The old man said, "son, run fast and go back to your hometown."
Hassi ran a few steps, looked back, and saw the water jumping to follow him. Hassy was overjoyed. He waved goodbye to the old man: "thank you, good old man!" Then he let go of his steps and ran quickly towards his hometown. He couldn't help singing. Run and run, Hassy was so tired, his feet were sore and sore, and his steps were getting slower and slower. He sat down to have a rest. Strangely, the water stopped and circled Hassy. Hassi took a sip of the water, got up again, and ran quickly to his hometown. He climbed over the deep ravines. The stream also followed his footsteps and flowed all the way to the plains of Beinan township. The grass in Beinan is green again, and the flowers are fragrant again. Everyone ran with the stream, singing and dancing, very happy. Since then, Beinan township has been rich in grain and fattening cattle and sheep every year. Because of his meritorious service in diverting water, Hassi was elected the leader of the tribe.
