Yaqing temple is 122 kilometers away from Baiyu county and 102 kilometers away from Ganzi County. Gan Bai highway goes westward from Ganzi and crosses zhuodala mountain (4600 meters above sea level) and Haizi mountain (4410 meters above sea level). Beside Haizi mountain, nalengcuo lake is blue and plays with wild ducks. At 200 meters 95 kilometers ahead of Jiepai, a road sign (Yaqing Wujin Buddhist temple) points to the left fork road. Turn into the fork road for about seven kilometers to reach Yaqing temple.
Introduction to the red religion (ningmaba): since Buddhism was introduced into Tibet in the seventh century for more than 1000 years, Tibetan Buddhism has become a unique branch. Through its own development and integration, it has developed into five branches. They are: geluba (Huangjiao), ningmaba (Hongjiao), sagaba (Huajiao), kajuba (Baijiao), and kadangba (gelutong branch). Among them, the development of yellow religion is the strongest, among which the Drepung temple, Gandan temple and sera temple in Lhasa suburb, zashilunbu temple in Shigatse, tal temple in Qinghai and Labrang temple in Gannan are collectively referred to as the six major temples of yellow religion. ——Red Cross education has developed greatly in Kangqu.
It is as well-known as the sedava College as a large school.
Temple characteristics
Unlike the satyaming Buddhist Academy, which is built on the mountain, most of the houses of the monks in Yaqing temple are built around the river.
Yaqing temple is located in the middle of zhangtai prairie. It is built on the grassland wetland surrounded by mountains. The terrain is open. The altitude is about 4000 meters, and the temperature is low. Even in summer, the temperature in July and August is only a few degrees.
The buildings surrounding the temple are small houses for believers
. Small box houses, ranging from thousands to more than 20000, were built by practitioners themselves. The crisscross Changqu River surrounds the whole temple complex. Every morning or evening, the smoke is filled with smoke, and the river is shining with golden light. The sound of chanting sutras comes with the wind from afar, just like the sound of nature and touching.
Master the practical teaching method of ningmaba Da Yuanman (mature pithy formula) - Che que (Zhiduan) and Tuo GA (dunchao) of Jimi Xin Di bu. He also strictly required his disciples to practice in seclusion. Studying in Yaqing temple, the living conditions are very difficult, the transportation is inconvenient, and the materials are scarce. However, all this did not stop the aspiring practitioners. There were hundreds of Han students who had been studying for a long time.
The "perfect light hall" of Yaqing Temple (the name of Yaqing Temple Sutra Hall) is modeled on the famous main hall of Sangye Temple "Wuzi hall". It has a magnificent appearance and 160 columns, all of which have profound meanings.
Distribution of disciples
Overview
There are more than 20000 monks and nuns living around Yaqing temple. It is divided into Zaba and juemu districts with the river as the boundary, with a total of eight continents. Zaba (male monks) is divided into five continents: Dharma Guangming, lunnen Dharma, Puxian Jingsi, Dali Jiedao and mingti Zijie; juemu (female monks, Tibetan female dignitaries) is divided into three continents: lekong shuangyun, Puxian Dali and Erdi shuangyun.
Chueh Mu Island
From the mountain of practice, we can see the whole picture of juemu city.
Qushui river is surrounded by an island, which is the largest juemu District in the world. Outside the island is Zaba (male monk) district.
Juemu district covers an area of about 0.15 square kilometers, surrounded by water on three sides, gathering more than 10000 juemu.
Only minor boys are allowed to live in juemu district. They all follow their sisters or other female relatives to become monks here. Although the living conditions are hard, under the care of women, they are more warm than the monks in other temples.
There are mainly two bridges in and out of the "island" where juemu people live, one connecting the Sutra hall and the other connecting the Xiuxing mountain. Every time after listening to the lecture, the juemus could only return to the island from one of the small bridges.
In case of fire, fire vehicles can not enter to put out the fire, which is easy to cause heavy property losses and casualties. Ganzi Prefecture fire department will build "one vertical and three horizontal" fire passage. 533 juemu houses and 0.5 square kilometers of newly planned resettlement area will be relocated in the reconstruction of the whole fire passage.
Cultural characteristics
King Kong singing and dancing
Vajra singing and dancing in Yaqing temple is a Dharma meeting held around the end of June every year in Tibetan calendar. At this time of year, thousands of believers gather here to watch or dance Vajra dancing Dharma meeting. Vajra dance is not an ordinary dance, but a kind of practice. Practitioners believe that Vajra dance can remove adverse factors and accumulate favorable factors. Moreover, Yaqing temple is a rare city of juemu (juemu, meaning Tibetan nun) in China. It is also a rare place to practice hard.
The Sutra flag of Yaqing temple, which has attracted a lot of people, is only available at the annual Vajra Dance Association.
Hard training
Listen to the Scriptures
There are mainly three to four Sutra halls in Yaqing temple, which are divided into different camps by dozens of temple gurus (teachers with weight). The temple also strictly distinguishes between men and women in class.
The open class here is a real "open" class. First, you can see the teachers in the small room. Later, you can only sit on the ground on the grass and listen to the trumpet from a distance.
Influenced by the traditional Tibetan culture, the status of women in Tibetan families is relatively low. Most of juemu who come to Yaqing to become a monk have not received basic education. The process of becoming a monk in temples is also the process of their learning culture.
Meridians changing
At 8 a.m., juemu and other pilgrims in Yaqing Temple turn their scriptures at a huge Mani stone Scripture wall in the temple. Turning scriptures is their daily activity. Along with the establishment of the temple, this Mani stone Scripture wall was piled up by stone slabs with scriptures in just a few decades.
The rules are strict
In Yaqing, the rules of practice are very strict. One of them is "you can't go into the shop after dark", so the busiest places every evening are the shops selling vegetables and fruits. Although the per capita density is high, the housing is poor and the conditions are hard, the temple still tries to ensure that the juemu people can eat fresh vegetables.
Because of its remote location, the most difficult problem to solve in Yaqing is medical treatment. Although the temple once sent many people out to study medicine, due to the lack of drugs and poor medical equipment, the most common way to treat patients is to hang physiological saline, and also let me use a stick to support, self-help treatment, serious disease is difficult to cure
.
Most of Chueh Mu who come to Yaqing to practice are very young. Like the college students in the mainland, many of them are not good at taking care of their own lives. After class, it's common for Chueh Mu people to go to restaurants on the island to cook and have dinner. The temple gives each Chueh Mu about 300 yuan of "chanting money" per month (other things need to be provided by relatives). If they can't arrange their life properly, their practice will be difficult to complete.
100 day closure
On the hillside near juemu Island, there is a hut transformed from a single wooden box, which is a meditation house.
One hundred days' closure is the most important part of juemu's practice in the year of Yaqing. With the cold winter approaching in November, the outdoor open class of the temple is coming to an end, and the day of closing for a hundred days is coming. Every year after winter, the juemus would enter a "Matchbox" hut for only one person, and Practice for a hundred days. They would exchange extremely hard living conditions for the joy of practicing Dharma Day and night. In November 2014, the wind was cold and the snow was white. Since the closing of the door for a hundred days, the juemus quietly entered the house of practice at daybreak, and the solemn atmosphere was even heavier than that of winter.
In fact, it's not as mysterious as you think. Chueh Mu locked themselves in the practice room just to make them think more quietly. After dusk
