Age of construction
In the history of the building of the tower, there are three sayings
In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it is often said that it was built in the Tang Dynasty. It is based on two stone tablets of Ming Dynasty, one of which is the inscription "Ming Kaiyuan rebuilt Stone Pagoda Temple stele" written by Huang Zan in the 12th year of Zhengtong of Ming Dynasty. According to the stele, the original old stele of the temple is incomplete, but the four characters of Chongshou temple are clear, "and it was built by monk Hongli in the first year of Qianlong of Tang Dynasty. The site is broad, and it was destroyed in the third year of Dading, because the stone pagoda was built as a master niche.". The second stele is the inscription on rebuilding Shita temple in Kaiyuan written by Chen Xun, an exiled scholar in Tieling, in the year of Tianshun. At the beginning of the inscription, there is a sentence: "Tangtang ancient temple, Zhaotang Qianyuan, on the left of Liao Dynasty, Xiongzhi Kaiyuan". Later generations all built this pagoda for the Tang Dynasty.
