Blunder
The outflow Lake in Mangkang County, the source of cuolongmen Qu, the second tributary of Jinsha River, is the largest plateau lake in Hengduan Mountains. Located in the lowest depression of shalujinshan faulted basin, it is a structural faulted lake, which is regarded as "Shenhu" by local people. The lake water is mainly supplied by ice and snow melt water, and the water from the lake flows into Jinsha River. The lake is 4334 meters above sea level. The length of the lake is 7.2 km, the average width is 2.5 km, the widest part is 5 km, the area is 18 square kilometers, and the water depth is 21 meters.
The salinity of the lake is 0.14g/l, belonging to freshwater lake. The lake area belongs to mountainous coniferous forest with humid and semi humid climate. There are many aquatic plants and plankton in the lake, with Schizothorax perching and water grass growing. There are two small stone islands in the lake. The larger island is called "deqiong" in Tibetan. There are rare birds such as white stork, yellow crane and spotted goose, as well as waterfowls such as yellow duck and wild duck. A tunnel has been built along the lake bank to divert water from the lake to irrigate the downstream farmland. The lake is very cold. It begins to freeze at the end of November every year and thaws in April the next year. Mangcuo was designated as a nature reserve by Mangkang County in 1985.
