What to watch
"Dora mountain" is located 4km to the east of Basu County, with a total area of 12km2. It is strange and strange.
"Dora holy mountain" belongs to the Ningma sect (red religion) in Tibetan Buddhism. There are many stone statues carved in the mountain, among which Sakyamuni is the most exquisite. There are also lotus seat, Bodhi tower, zhuanjing hall and other Buddhist relics. The reason why Mount Dora is famous in Tibet is that there are so many rocks of different sizes all over the mountain, which are engraved with six words of truth, scriptures and Buddha statues. Nameless flowers and plants are silent beside the stones, which gives rise to a sense of simple vicissitudes. These stone images and characters protrude outwards, and their colors are different from those of stones, just as the characters and images are inlaid on stones. The scale of these stone carvings and the artistic attainments of calligraphy and painting are very rare on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. Some of the scriptures on these rocks have gone through thousands of years of wind, frost, rain and snow. Due to the severe weathering, many scriptures lost the traces of artificial carving, and many stone scriptures and Buddha statues were considered to be formed naturally.
On one side of the entrance to the mountain are the heads of cattle and sheep carved with six words. These cattle and sheep have made great contributions to their owners before they died, and they are put here to express the simple and natural idea that human and animals depend on each other. There are also dead sheep and goat skulls hanging on a small wooden house beside the Sutra hall, which explains people's simple thought of doing good and cherishing life. Beside the stone engraved with six words of truth, there are small stones piled up by religious believers. Each stone records that believers turn the mountain once. The more stones there are, the more times they turn the mountain. The whole holy mountain can be divided into seven scenic spots according to the layout and religious meaning
The first scenic spot has Sakyamuni, many small Buddha statues and six character words; the second scenic spot has a lotus seat and a picture of Meili Snow Mountain. There is a small hole beside the picture, which is said to have been left long ago by the living Buddha of Qiang Balin when he took the conch from the stone; the third scenic spot has two strange holes in the holy mountain. It is said that one of them, pabala I, once took out a sea with unique shape and gorgeous color The other cave is said to be more magical. The virtuous and virtuous people can reach into the cave and touch the lucky things like wool, while the evil people can't pull out their hands. The fourth scenic spot has six big stone heads with six words of truth, each stone with only one word, and a thousand handed Buddha statue about 80cm high, The three piles of sand flowing from the mountain above represent the main grain crops in Tibet, such as wheat, highland barley and buckwheat, and symbolize the harvest of five grains. The fifth scenic spot mainly includes six characters carved on four huge stones, real words and various scriptures, and many small Buddha statues. The sixth scenic spot mainly refers to the route of Buddhism turning to the mountain in the pilgrimage area. The seventh scenic spot is a few kilometers of people around the holy mountain on May 15 of the Tibetan calendar The holy mountain is said to be the Zishan of Meili Snow Mountain. The number of local people who turn around the mountain every day is generally no less than 40, and the number of Buddhist festivals is increasing. Every year on May 15 of the Tibetan calendar, the villagers of baimaxin, Jida and Lagen all walk along the big circle of the holy mountain to the top of the mountain, kneel down in front of the top of the mountain, and pray for the peace of that year. After praying, the masses of the three townships also hold a grand song and dance competition to boost the fun. It is said that the winning Xiangxin will have good luck and smooth sailing this year.
People who turn mountains are often seen in Dora mountain. Turning mountains is one of the ways to turn scriptures. Tibetan Buddhists believe that turning mountains can accumulate merits and get the protection of God. It is said that a circle around the holy mountain can clear away the sin of one's life; ten circles can avoid the suffering of falling into hell in five hundred cycles of life and death; one hundred circles can become a Buddha in this life; if you die on the way around the mountain, it is the greatest blessing. This is the fundamental reason why devout Tibetan Buddhists are keen to turn mountains. Dora holy mountain is a sacred place for people to turn around. Traditionally, this holy mountain can be divided into three circles: the outer circle, the middle circle and the inner circle. Few people turn around the outer circle. It takes about 4 hours to turn around the middle circle on foot. Along the way, you can enjoy the sky burial platform and various stone carving arts. You can have a bird's-eye view of the whole Dora mountain when you climb on the main hill. Turning around the inner circle for no more than 2 hours is the core part of Dora mountain and the main visiting point.
