Liuqing Temple
Liuqing temple is located in the south of Xizhang village, Hongchi Township, Pinglu County, Shanxi Province. Founded in the years of Renshou in Sui Dynasty, it was originally named Baode temple. It was built by Li Yuan, Emperor Gaozu of Tang Dynasty, to repay Qin Qiong's kindness of rescue. It was renamed Liuqing temple in Song Dynasty. In Tang Dynasty, Song Dynasty, Jin Dynasty, Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, it was added. The existing main building, the attic, is divided into upper and lower floors. The bottom floor is five rooms wide, four rafters deep, three rooms wide and two rooms deep. The double eaves rest on the top of the mountain and there are corridors around. It is the architectural style of the Ming Dynasty. The other three halls are three wide and one deep with a hard peak, which is the architectural style of Qing Dynasty. There are more than ten steles in the temple, which are relics of Tang, song, Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is one of the Eight Temples in the ancient Jin Dynasty.
Legend of temple building
The temple was founded in Renshou period of Sui Dynasty. It was built by Li Yuan, Emperor Gaozu of Tang Dynasty, to repay Qin Qiong's kindness of rescue. Qin Qiong rescued Li Yuan in August (601), the first year of Renshou, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty. At that time, Li Yuan was the Duke of the Tang Dynasty and stationed in Taiyuan. Because of the discord between Li and Yu Wen, a traitor in the imperial court, Yu always wanted to harm Li. This time, Li Yuan left Beijing with his family. When Yu heard about it, he sent the east palace guard to make a noise and hide in the jungle near Lishan Mountain, Li Yuan's must pass. When Li and his family came here, a group of "ring horse thieves" suddenly came out of the forest. Although Li Yuan and his family fought hard, their lives were at stake because they were outnumbered. At the critical moment, Qin Qiong and fan Jianwei escorted a group of criminals from Shandong to Shanxi Pingyang mansion. When they passed through here, Qin Qiong saw the injustice and pulled out a sword to help them. After several times of fighting, the robbers ran away and saved the life of Li Yuan's family. Li was so grateful that he kowtowed thanks again and again and called Qin Qiong the benefactor. After returning to Taiyuan, Li Yuan often thought about it and decided to build a temple for Qin Qiong's ancestral temple, and chose the site of the temple in a place close to Qin and Jin Dynasties with beautiful scenery and pleasant scenery under his jurisdiction.
