Imitation wood structure, two columns, a third floor, 8 meters high, 5.7 meters wide. Inside the stone column, there is a door frame and a wooden gate. On the plaque on the second floor is the inscription of zhenbaili gate written by Cheng Wen, editor of the Yuan Dynasty Hanlin Academy of national history, aiming to show the three generations of local sages of Zheng Qianling's family. On the first floor, there are three big characters of "zhenbaili", which are "the book of Su Zhenglian's visit to Sishi YuQue, a Fengzheng official in Donghai, Zhejiang". The shape of the main components of the square is good, and the deep relief on the beam and some characters are seriously eroded.
Now it is a key cultural relic protection unit in Anhui Province.
Behind the scenes
Zhenbailifang is located in Zhengcun, Zhengcun Town, Shexian county. It is the only existing stone square of Yuan Dynasty in Shexian county. It was built at the end of Yuan Dynasty. It was rebuilt in 1499, 1527 and 1755 respectively. Zhenbaili square used to have a gate, which is one of the few remains of the gate in she county. It is a three story building with two pillars, 5.7 meters wide and 8 meters high. It is made of sandstone and stone. There is a door frame between the stone pillar and the guard pole stone, and the original wooden gate. The seal character "zhenbaili" is engraved on the first floor of the first floor, which is the title book of Yu que, the censor of the Yuan Dynasty. On the second floor, there is a plaque of "Zhen Bai Li men Ming", which is written by Cheng Wen, editor of the Yuan Dynasty Hanlin Academy of national history. It is designed to show the three generations of the village people Zheng Qianling and his family. But the weathering and spalling are serious. Now we can only barely see the words, but it is difficult to distinguish them in detail. Zheng Qianling was a typical petty official at the end of the Yuan Dynasty who started from the grass-roots level. According to the records of she County in the Republic of China, Zheng Qianling was named Qiqing. He once served as the inspector of Yanling, the county captain of Qimen, the county magistrate of Chun'an and the county magistrate of Xiuning. Its "integrity, there are benefits." After his death, he gave his posthumous title of "Mr. Zhenbai" to commemorate the fact that he had never been a senior official in his whole life, and his highest position was no more than Qipin county official. However, after his death, the people spontaneously set up a square to honor him, and praised him as "Zhenbai". At the same time, he changed "shanfuli" to "zhenbaili", which shows his outstanding reputation. Moreover, this kind of praise is not only in his hometown, but also in Chunan, Xiuning and other places where he was in charge. His son, Zheng Yu, was proficient in Confucian classics. He devoted his whole life to his official career and devoted himself to giving lectures in the countryside. Because Bao Yuankang, a student, specially built "Shishan academy" for him as a lecture place, Zheng Yu was also known as "Mr. Shishan". In 1357, Zhu Yuanzhang conquered Huizhou, and Zheng Yu was framed and jailed. Fortunately, Bao Shen, a student, rescued her. The next year he was jailed again, but Zheng Yu couldn't bear Bao Shen to replace him with his son, so he hanged himself. He said that he didn't want to be an official of Ming Dynasty and hanged himself. The characters on Zheng's ancestral hall and menfang praise Zheng Yu, a scholar of Zheng's family in the Zhizheng period of the Yuan Dynasty. They preach that after Zhu Yuanzhang conquered Huizhou, he played an elegy for a lost Dynasty with the whole family's life. The purpose of building this ancestral hall is to carry forward their "Zhenbai family style". They are indifferent to fame and wealth, ashamed of their official career, picking chrysanthemums in Dongli, and enjoying their seclusion. They always stick to their spiritual home. Under the banner of "Zhenbai family style", they are not associated with the ruling class of Ming and Qing Dynasties, casting a lofty and independent character.
