Guanyindong site
Guanyindong site is located in a natural cave in guanyinpo, pingguangzhai, Qixing village, Longguang Town, Anlong county, Guizhou Province. It is a cave site in the transitional period of Neolithic and Paleolithic age, covering an area of about 1200 square meters.
introduce
The guanyindong site was discovered in the spring of 1985. It was excavated in 1986. It was first excavated from 1990 to 1991. The second and third excavations were carried out in 1995 and 1996. Several excavations unearthed more than 200000 pieces of stone tools, ground stone tools, bone artifacts, pottery pieces, human and animal remains, as well as a large number of fire relics. Among them, there are more than 30 human remains, tens of thousands of stone products, nearly 100 bone products, and more than 20 pottery pieces. There are more than 20 genera and species of animal remains.
The cultural accumulation of the site is about 5 meters thick and can be divided into 13 layers, with cultural relics unearthed in each layer. The 14C age of the 11th to 8th successive cultural layers falls between 9970 + 200 and 7080 + 300 years ago. It is inferred that the age of the guanyindong site should be between 10000 and 6000 years ago.
The site fills the cultural gap of the early Neolithic Age in Guizhou and is of great value in exploring the transition between the Neolithic and Paleolithic age in Guizhou and even in China.
In May 2013, it was approved and announced as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
New progress
In August 2019, Nature magazine published the re research results of the earth and stone artifacts from the guanyindong site in Guizhou Province from 1964 to 1973. It is believed that there is a systematic lewalowa technology in the site. The new optical luminescence dating shows that the main cultural layer of the site is 170000-80000 years ago. The stone assemblage of the site represents the earliest technology assemblage of lewalowa in East Asia. This study has further consolidated the chronological framework of the guanyindong site in western Guizhou and made important progress. However, through the detailed observation and analysis of the research methods and related stone products used by the author, the latest research shows that there is no levalouwa technology in the guanyindong site, and its stone product combination is a relatively simple stone core flake technology complex, which is consistent with the previous scholars' conclusion.
