Shiyang town and Shiyang ancient town are located 35 kilometers northwest of Dayao County. There are many existing cultural relics and historic sites, including one provincial key cultural relics protection unit and nine county-level key cultural relics protection units. It is a national AAA tourist area. It is one of the first batch of three historical and cultural towns, 60 tourist towns and four characteristic tourist towns in Chuxiong Prefecture named in Yunnan Province. It is a famous "salt capital of Yunnan Province" "Holy land of Confucius". Confucian culture, salt culture, historical culture, Yi culture and Buddhist culture constitute the characteristic tourism culture of Shiyang ancient town. It has jurisdiction over 16 administrative villages, 124 natural villages and 240 villager groups.
The ancient town is located between Chuxiong, Dali and Panzhihua, within the medium distance of Kunming and Dali. The Confucius Temple in the ancient town has the best preserved and largest bronze statue of Confucius.
In October 2015, it was listed by the Ministry of housing and urban rural development and the National Tourism Administration as the third batch of national characteristic landscape tourism towns and villages.
In November 2017, Shiyang town was awarded the fifth national civilized village.

Shiyang Confucius Temple
From Dayao County, through 35 kilometers of Panshan highway, you can reach Shiyang ancient town, also known as "Baijing", a famous historical and cultural town in Yunnan under Baicaoling,. Here, the overlapping peaks, ancient pagodas, neat markets and simple and thick folk customs are integrated, giving people a sense of simplicity, elegance and etiquette. But the most eye-catching thing here is the resplendent Confucius Temple complex in the town and the bronze statue of Confucius sitting in the temple for hundreds of years.
Shiyang Confucius Temple is a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level. It was built in the Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty (1368 AD). After more than 600 years of wind and rain, the main hall is composed of Zhuzi Pavilion, chanting Pavilion, Xiangxian temple, moon arch bridge, marble murals, stone carvings, etc., covering an area of nearly 1000 square meters. The construction is quaint and precise. The top of the whole temple is covered with yellow, red and green glaze. The door is carved with flowers and plants, exquisite and unique, dragon, Phoenix, lion and tiger, flower, bird, fish and insect, pine, cypress and vine, and the color paintings are neat and vivid.
The bronze statue of Confucius in the temple was cast in the Kangxi period and lasted for nine years. With a height of 2.3 meters and a net weight of 2.5 tons, he wears a glazed jade crown on his head and holds an ivory Wat in his hand. He sits in the middle of Dacheng hall. It is the most famous bronze statue of Confucius in China. It is unique in size, shape and craftsmanship.
In the Confucian Temple, it is located at the foot of Xiang Ling mountain, the north of perfume Henan, and the ancient salt well which started in Han Dynasty and flourished in Tang Dynasty. At the same time, the eight scenic spots of Yangcheng, such as the high view from the rooftop, the sunset in Manjusri, the morning smoke in Baoxiu, the night moon in Xianghe, Yanfang in Xiangling, Chunbo in Liuyin, zaomei in Xigu and Tianqing in Ludong, can satisfy the tourists. The splendid history and culture of Shiyang not only attracts celebrities and scholars from all over the world, but also nurtures generations of Chinese heroes.
