Zengchong Dong Village

Zengchong Drum Tower is the most famous one in zengchong Dong village. It was built in Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty. The tower is 25m high and has 11 floors. It is of wooden structure. It is shaped like a pagoda and double gourd top.

Whenever there is something to discuss in the village or when people step on the song hall during the festival, people will beat drums. Villagers in the village gather in the drum tower hall to listen to the elder's orders.

Due to the inconvenience of transportation, zengchong retains more simple folk customs and very natural village structure. It has the longest history, the largest scale and the best preserved Dong Drum Tower in Guizhou Province.

Traffic information: the traffic from Rongjiang and Congjiang to zengchong is very inconvenient. The whole journey from Rongjiang to Shizi road is 33km. When it rains, the road condition is worse. It's better to charter a car from Rongjiang. It takes about 1.5 hours to get to the intersection outside the village, and it takes 20 minutes to walk into the village. Or find a three row agricultural truck on the east side of the fork road 60 meters north of Rongjiang bridge in Rongjiang county. It will automatically rush out to Rongjiang at about 7:30 every morning and return from Rongjiang at 13:00-14:00 that day. You can also take a bus from Rongjiang to stop at Dongdong, and wait for the tractors of the Dong people to enter the village at the forestry inspection station at the intersection.
