brief introduction
Wu Yuxiang's former residence is located in Yingchun street, Guangfu ancient city, covering an area of 9200 square meters and a construction area of 6000 square meters. It was built in Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty. There are 75 original houses in the former residence, and there are 42 existing houses, which are arranged along three north-south axes of East, middle and West. The houses are well arranged, symmetrical in left and right, and have high ridge cornices. The plane layout is rigorous, solemn and harmonious, and the project is perfect. It embodies the traditional style and architectural art of the ancient working people in China. It is a relatively complete ancient residential building and precious historical relics. From 1948 to 1958, Yongnian County Party committee worked here, and later the cadres' families lived here.

The front part of the restored house is the gate, which faces east from the west, with ear chambers on both sides. There is a rectangular stele wall in the square outside the gate. The front of the stele is "Wu Yuxiang's former residence" and the back is engraved with "Taijiquan thirteen Postures". The green brick floor inside the door is simple and spacious, and the courtyard is composed of a vertical flower gate and a sedan chair house. The western part of the sedan house is a study, facing south, with three wide faces and eaves at the front. He was once a private school of the Wu family, and most of his descendants learned from it. Yang banghou also studied here, but he was fond of playing and was eager to learn literature. Later he learned boxing from Yuxiang. The northern building of the sedan house is the main building of the former residence of Wu Yuxiang, which is divided into three parts: the north and South courtyards, namely the instrument gate, the living room, the hall and the living room. In the first section of the courtyard, there are 2 ear rooms on both sides of the instrument door, 3 East and West Wing rooms and 3 living rooms. The front of the eaves, under the corridor, pillars. The living room of the north room is the reception room. The main door is equipped with a tall wooden wall with four large patterns of plum, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum.
In the second section of the courtyard, there are three East and West Wing rooms and five halls. There are bright pillars, corridors and eaves. Acid sweet pomegranate trees are planted on the left and right sides of the courtyard. In the golden autumn, fruit is abundant and branches are bent. The west chamber is the bedroom of Wu Yuquan, the great grandson of Yuxiang, and the East chamber is the bedroom of Wu funai, the great grandson of Yuxiang. The second courtyard is the largest, with 3 East and West Wing rooms and 5 main rooms. There are clear columns, corridors and double eaves. Carved beams and painted buildings under the eaves are colorful and painted with landscape, flowers and plants, birds and animals, green bamboo and other patterns. There are six beasts on the ridge of tile roofed house, which is called "five spines and six beasts". The west chamber is the bedroom of Wu YanXu, the grandson of Yu Xiang, and the East chamber is the bedroom of Wu Yongyi, the son of Yu Xiang. There are 5 main rooms in the north house, with left and right partition fans. The West partition fan is the living room, and the East partition fan is the small living room and study. Wu Yuxiang once read books here, devoted himself to the study of boxing theory, combined with his many years of experience, wrote many theoretical works of Taijiquan, and established the theoretical system of Wu Style Taijiquan. He is the author of Taijiquan solution, Taijiquan theory solution, four character secret decision, thugfangfang, shisan Shi Shuo Lue and other books.
In addition to the central axis part of the original building, there are back garden and east-west axis buildings. The back garden is located in the southwest of the whole building, 60 meters wide from east to west and 40 meters long from north to south. The garden has luxuriant flowers, lush trees and elegant environment. There are rockery, lotus pool, pavilions, fish pond, martial arts training ground, etc., with a garden style. For their family leisure, entertainment, martial arts. The architectural style of the two axes is similar to that of the central axis, which is divided into three sections of courtyard, with main room, hall and wing room. At present, the buildings along the East axis have been destroyed, and the open space has been built as houses. There are few buildings left on the Western axis, and a large-scale martial arts training ground has been built in the open space. There are three study rooms left in the south.
In 1991, after the first Hebei Yongnian international Taijiquan fraternity, Guangfu office and Guangfu town government raised funds to repair the former residence for the first time.
