Manshanhong martyrs cemetery
Manshanhong martyrs cemetery is a key national martyrs cemetery building protection unit. Located in the southern suburb of Hefeng County loushui River, 1.5 km away from Hefeng County. It is a historical and cultural scenic spot. The cemetery has been established as one of the main scenic spots of 30 national red tourism routes, and also one of the seven national patriotism education bases in Hubei Province.

Planning began in 1958, the park was built in 1962, and large-scale reconstruction was carried out in 1978. In December 1988, the cemetery was officially named the revolutionary martyrs' cemetery in Hunan Hubei border Soviet area.
There is a 22 meter high "monument to revolutionary martyrs in the Soviet Area on the border of Hunan and Hubei" in the cemetery to commemorate the heroic sons and daughters of Hefeng Soviet area who died in the second domestic revolutionary war. There is a bronze statue of Helong in the martyrs' cemetery. Liao Hansheng personally inscribed "inherit the martyrs' ambition, revitalize the border of Hunan and Hubei" with ten vigorous and powerful characters. From both sides, the 18.4-meter-high "monument of revolutionary martyrs in the Soviet Area on the border of Hunan and Hubei" appears majestic and tall. The 200 square meter base of the monument and the relief of the base show a picture of the revolutionary struggle in Western Hunan and Hubei.
From the monument, up the concrete stairs in the forest, there are the main tombs in the cemetery, where the loyal bones of Duan Dechang, the first martyr of the people's Republic of China, Wang Bingnan, the commander of the Red Army, and He Ying, the first female commander in Western Hunan and Hubei Province, are buried.
Celebrities in the park
In March 1928, he long, Guan Xiangying, Duan Dechang and others formed the second Red Army of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army in Honghu. At the beginning of 1929, he long led the second Red Army to liberate Hefeng County, and established the first county Soviet government in Western Hunan and Hubei. Gallop in Hunan and Hubei border, arduous fighting for several years. It effectively coordinated the strategic transfer of the Central Red Army, and also effectively disintegrated the feudal ruling forces in the border areas of Hunan and Hubei. In 1934, he went northward from Guizhou and joined the Central Red Army in Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia. He was reorganized into the second front Red Army of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army and became an important people's armed force in the history of Chinese revolutionary struggle.
From 1928 to 1933, due to the left opportunism, Xia Xi, an important leader of the second Red Army Corps and special commissioner of the Central Committee, carried out the "Anti Japanese" movement in the revolutionary base of Western Hunan and Hubei. Duan Dechang, Wang Bingnan and many other senior leaders of the party, government and army were killed.
Duan Dechang
Duan Dechang was one of the founders of the Hunan Hubei red army and the Soviet area. He graduated from Huangpu Military Academy and was the party introducer of Marshal Peng Dehuai. In 1931, he was the commander of the ninth division of the third Red Army. On May 1, 1933, he was killed in jinguoping, Badong County. After the founding of new China, it was recognized as the No.1 revolutionary martyr of new China by the Central People's government and one of the 33 militarists by the Central Military Commission in 1989.
Wang Bingnan
Wang Bingnan was an outstanding military leader in the early stage of the Red Army. He took part in the Nanchang Uprising in 1927 and served as the chief of staff of the ninth division of the Red Army in 1932. He fought resolutely against the "left" mistakes and was falsely accused of being a "reformer". In June 1933, he was killed in Zhongying township of Hefeng County.
He Ying
From 1928 to 1933, He Ying served as the commander of the joint defense guerrillas in the border region of Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan and Guizhou. He persisted in the guerrilla war for seven years on the Sangzhi border with Hefeng Taiping as the center. In May 1933, the guerrilla camp in changwan, Taiping cave was attacked by several times the enemy. In order to cover the retreat of the guerrillas, He Ying and his second sister, he WuJie, died bravely. Later, He Ying's guerrillas were reorganized into the 72nd regiment of the 7th Division of the Red Army and took part in the world-famous 25000 mile long march, making great contributions to the Chinese revolution.
