Chongxu Temple
Jiaoantang, commonly known as Jinhua tree. Facing the Danjiang Reservoir, facing the sun and the wind, it is quiet all the year round. In the mountains on the left side of xuanyue gate of Wudang Mountain in Danjiangkou City, Hubei Province. The date of its establishment is unknown. There were statues of Zhenwu emperor and LV Dongbin in the temple. There is a well in the nunnery, which is called Shunjing; there is an ancient cypress in front of the nunnery, which is said to have been planted by Lu Dongbin in the Tang Dynasty. The trunk is towering, and the twigs are curly. Every summer, the wild vines climb the trees and grow, and the golden flowers bloom from a distance, so it is called "golden flower tree". This nunnery is one of the 36 nunneries in Wudang Mountain, which has been well preserved up to now. The existing ancestral hall is of brick and wood structure, with five ridges and hard hilltops, six grid roof truss and dry small green tile roof. The front is the corridor and the back is the eaves. Its surface is 19.89 meters wide and its depth is 11.5 meters. Its height is 9.6 meters. Huangjing building has 2 floors, close to Zhongnan hillside. It is of brick and wood structure, hard hilltop, beam lifting wooden frame, corridor in front, eaves in back, small green tile roof, 5 rooms in width, 11.95 meters in depth, and 9.7 meters in height. Chongxu nunnery in Wudang Mountain
Daozu building, 2 floors, is located in the west of Huangjing building, with brick and wood structure and hard hilltop. Lifting beam type wooden frame, the front is decorated with wood, and the back is sealed eaves. It is 12.53m wide in four rooms, 6.81m deep in three rooms and 7.78m high. Sanguan Pavilion, 2 floors, is located in the east of Huangjing building, facing south. Brick and wood structure, hard top. The walls are made of green bricks on all sides, with a width of 12.61 meters, a depth of 6.84 meters and a height of 7.1 meters. The buildings and steles in front of the nunnery were destroyed. There are some Ming and Qing inscriptions and Shun wells in the nunnery.
In yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, 39 nunneries were built in Wudang Mountain. The scale of the nunnery is grand, while the scale of the nunnery built with local funds is small. In 1686, the 11th nunnery in Junzhou was renamed Guan, but it was still called an nunnery.
