Located under the West Tianmen gate, it is about 300 square meters wide and smooth. It is engraved with a huge "heart" character, which is 5 meters long, 7 meters wide and nearly 50 meters around. The center can accommodate eight or nine people sitting together, and the whole character can accommodate nearly 100 people meditating. It is really "broad-minded" and the largest stone inscription in Putuo Mountain.

Basic explanation

It is said that Guanyin Bodhisattva once said "Heart Sutra" on this stone. Buddhism focuses on cultivating the mind. When people go to Mount Putuo to worship the Buddha, they all like to go to the heart stone, or walk around the heart stone, or sit in the heart stone to take photos as a souvenir, so as to symbolize their sincerity to the Buddha or their friendship in the world. There is a poem in the heart stone: "the sea mountain is in the west, and the red heart shines in the eyes. It is the mind that is the Buddha, and the quantity is not in front of him. " Heart stone about 5 meters above the right of the valley, there is a stone stretching out, looming between the grass and thorns, its shape as cool as a snake head. Not far away from this stone, there is another stone on the west side of the West Tianmen gate. It looks like a toad and looks like a snake. It is said that there is a boa constrictor who gets the Tao through the guidance of Guanyin Bodhisattva. One day, Bodhisattva Guanyin put a toad on the back of the snake to test the snake's heart, but the boa was still and didn't mean to hurt the toad This is the origin of the story of "Buddha testing snake heart". Later, someone carved a big word "heart" on the boulder at the lower right corner of the snake head, which is even more interesting.
