Gulin Park

Gulin park is located in the north of Qingliang mountain and the west of Huju North Road. The name of the garden engraved on the stone wall is Lin Sanzhi's title book. The garden covers an area of more than 400 mu, with rolling hills. Gulin Park, built on the site of Baolin temple, is named after Gulin temple in memory of Jiangnan ancient temple.

Gulin Park

development history

Gulin park is named for its original Gulin temple. According to historical records, Gulin temple was first called Guanyin temple, which was founded by Baozhi, an eminent monk of the Liang Dynasty.

In the northern and Southern Dynasties, Begonia and plum blossoms were widely planted in Gulin Park, with beautiful scenery. Every time in early spring, plum blossom is in full bloom, with delicate buds and fragrant flowers. Bao Yuan, an official from Anhui Province, came here to enjoy the flowers. Because his mother's name was Mei, he worshipped Mei and donated money to build a "Baimei nunnery" to commemorate his mother's friendship. Since then, the plum blossoms in the ancient forest have become famous, and there has been an endless stream of people enjoying them. I'm sorry that this nunnery was destroyed early.

It was renamed gulin'an in Chunxi (1174-1989) of Southern Song Dynasty. At that time, there were only a few couplets in the house, with a radius of 100 feet.

In the 12th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1584), the temple was changed from an nunnery by the eminent monk Gu Xin, and the foundation was expanded to build a giant temple. In the 41st year of Wanli (1613), Gu Xin helped master Xuelang Hongen to repair the glass tower of Baoen temple. The government presented the emperor with a memorial. He granted the "Gulin Temple" forehead and ten treasures: purple clothes, dragon collection, Guanyin statue, Xuanyuan mirror, golden censer, purple bowl, jade futon, black gold plate, Tianchi, huntianqiu and Wanshou altar plaque.

In the third year of Xianfeng (1853) of the Qing Dynasty, all the temples were destroyed. After the temple monks such as magpie nest, after 40 years of restoration, a little jungle scale. In the 26th year of Guangxu (1900), on the eighth day of September, a fire broke out in the valley behind the temple, and the temple was completely burned. After several ups and downs, to the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, Gulin temple was decadent and became a vegetable land for farmers. In 1959, it was a provincial horticultural farm, and the dilapidated Gulin Temple no longer existed.

In 1964, it was transferred to the municipal department in charge of landscape architecture and turned into an ancient forest nursery. The ancient forest gully is high and low, and the terrain is changeable, which has the natural environment to create a park. In January 1981, the garden was officially approved to be built as a special flower garden with four seasons famous flowers as its main landscaping. On April 23, 1984, when commemorating the 35th anniversary of the liberation of Nanjing, it opened to the outside world.

After seven years of hard work, by the end of 1987, a flower park with famous flowers and exotic flowers and a combination of entertainment and science popularization was initially built.

On October 5, 1992, Gulin Park was built into the third largest base of peony and peony in China. At that time, there were 300 varieties of peony in Gulin Park, 4000 strains of peony and peony.

Dujuan slope

From the main entrance, you can see the Rhododendron slope in front of you. On the slope there are tall trees, chestnut and Quercus acutissima. In March, all kinds of rhododendrons are in full bloom, red flowers are like fire, yellow flowers are like gold, white flowers are like jade. Far Champs Elysees

From Dujuan slope to the south, along the stone steps made of block stones, the garden is full of green pines and cypresses, green bamboos and yellow poplars, and the far champs stand in it. The building area of yuanxiangxie is 60 square meters, which imitates the reinforced concrete structure of the classical garden. Although there is no carved dragon and painted Phoenix, it is also exquisite and beautiful, elegant and simple. It is surrounded by corridors. There are often flowers, paintings and bonsai exhibitions in the room, and you can also have a rest in the pavilion. Shuixie is open in the East, West and North. It has rich and fragrant flowering shrubs such as Chimonanthus praecox, Magnolia, hibiscus, Hydrangea and Osmanthus fragrans. Peony Garden

From the far south to the Champs Elysees is the peony garden. Peony garden is located in the southwest corner of the park. The garden is built on the basis of cutting stones from the mountain, and a statue of Peony Fairy more than two meters high stands in the garden. Peony is known as the "national color and natural fragrance" for its large flowers and beautiful shape. More than 250 varieties and 3000 plants were collected and cultivated in the garden, most of which were introduced from Luoyang, Henan Province and Heze, Shandong Province. Chahuawu

In the north of the peony garden, the dock was built because of the mountains. Every Plum Blossom Festival, Nanjing Gulin park will hold "plum blossom Exhibition". Through introduction and cultivation, the park has 60 excellent varieties, such as Xiaolv calyx, Taohong cinnabar, CanXue, Dayu, zuoqiaohong, and nearly 3000 plum blossom plants on display. Rose Garden

In the northwest corner of rose garden, it is one of the production bases of "Jinling bonsai", covering an area of 200 square meters and equipped with a glass greenhouse of 600 square meters. All kinds of tree stumps, water stone bonsai and foliage plants are available for tourists to watch and buy, and also for export. Along the basin garden, there is an open slope on the left side, where tea trees and plum blossoms are widely planted.
