Fancheng District
Fancheng district belongs to Xiangyang City, Hubei Province. It is located in the northwest of Hubei Province and the middle reaches of the Han River. Its geographical coordinates are 111 ° 45 ′ - 113 ° 47 ′, 31 ° 13 ′ - 32 ° 35 ′, East and north of Xiangzhou District, south of Hanjiang River and West of Gucheng County and Laohekou City. Fancheng district is the central urban area of Xiangyang, the economic, transportation, information and logistics center of Xiangyang City, known as "South ship, North horse, thoroughfare of seven provinces".
Fancheng basically belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate zone, cold in winter and hot in summer, with four distinct seasons. The district has 8 streets and 2 towns, with an administrative area of 566 square kilometers and a permanent population of 709000 in 2019.

History of construction
According to Shangshu Yugong, the world is divided into nine states. In ancient times, Fancheng belonged to Yuzhou. The place name of fan began in the Shang Dynasty.
In the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, in the 26th year of the reign of the king of Qin (221 BC), after the unification of the whole country, the county was set up, and Fancheng was subordinate to Nanyang County.
In 208, the 13th year of Jian'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Cao Cao took fan and set up Xiangyang County. Fancheng was subordinate to Xiangyang County. In the southern and Northern Dynasties and the Western Wei Dynasty (535-557), Fancheng county was set up and subordinate to Henan county.
In the Northern Zhou Dynasty (558-580), Fancheng county was abolished and Anyang County was established.
In the first year of Tang Tianbao (742), Anyang County was changed to Linhan county. In the first year of Yongzhen (805), Deng county was transferred to Linhan County, which was named Dengcheng county. Fancheng was a town under the jurisdiction of Dengcheng county.
In 1135, Dengcheng county was removed and merged into Xiangyang County. Fancheng was a town under the jurisdiction of Xiangyang County.

In 1560, Xiangyang County set up four lanes (northeast, Southeast, northwest, southwest), two lanes (fanchengxiang, heimenxiang) and 29 Li (Niushou, Cailin, Tongkou, etc.).
From the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, Fancheng was a town under the jurisdiction of Xiangyang County. During the reign of Xuantong of Qing Dynasty, Xiangyang County was divided into eight districts, and Fancheng was the Second District of Xiangyang County. In 1936, Xiangyang County was divided into six districts and 108 Lianbao (townships and towns). Fandong Town, Fannan Town, fanxi town and fanbei town were set up in Fancheng, all of which belonged to the second district. In 1941, the new county system was formally implemented. Xiangyang County was divided into 37 townships, and Fancheng was divided into Fandong town and fanxi town. In 1942, Fandong and fanxi were merged into Fancheng town.
On January 10, 1949, after the second liberation of Fancheng and Xiangyang (the first liberation in July 1948), the three special offices of Tongbai administrative office of the Communist Party of China merged Xiangyang and Fancheng to form Xiangfan City.
On March 15, 1949, after the party and government organizations in Tongbai district were ordered to withdraw, Xiangfan City was under the leadership of Hannan Working Committee.
In May 1949, Hubei resumed the provincial and district system, and the Hannan Working Committee of the CPC was changed into the Xiangyang local committee of the CPC. At the same time, the Xiangyang District Administrative Commissioner Office was established, which was directly under the jurisdiction of Xiangfan City.
In 1952, Xiangfan City was changed into a special town under the jurisdiction of the Department. In April 1953, Xiangfan City was restored and changed into a provincial (county-level) city. In 1979, it was upgraded to a provincial prefecture level city.
In August 1983, Xiangyang District was abolished and its administrative region was merged into Xiangfan City. In January 1984, Fandong District, fanxi district and suburb were set up in Fancheng.
In October 1995, after the State Council approved Xiangfan's request for instructions on the establishment of Fancheng District, Xiangfan municipal Party committee and municipal government abolished the original Fandong District, fanxi district and suburbs in Fancheng and prepared to build Fancheng district.
On July 12, 1996, the first session of the first people's Congress of Fancheng District elected the first government leader of Fancheng District, and Fancheng district was officially established.
On August 31, 2001, Mizhuang town was under the jurisdiction of Xiangyang District, and Niushou town and Taipingdian town of Xiangyang County were under the jurisdiction of Fancheng district.
On December 9, 2010, the State Council approved Xiangfan City to be renamed Xiangyang City, so the full name of Fancheng district also became Fancheng District of Xiangyang City.

The geology of Fancheng district has gone through many tectonic movements, and the Mesozoic Yanshanian movement has laid the present macro geomorphic outline of the area. Fancheng district is located in the central Gangdi plain of Xiangyang City, also known as Northern Hubei Gangdi, commonly known as "Three North" (Xiangzhou, Zaoyang, Laohekou three counties in the North) Gangdi, between Tongbai mountain and Wudang Mountain, Jingshan mountain. The Quaternary yellow cinnamon soil was cut by surface water and dissolved to form undulating Longgang landform. The altitude is 85-140 meters, the relative height difference is 10-30 meters, and the slope is generally about 10 degrees. There are few plants in the area, and soil erosion is easy.
