Historical evolution
Initial construction
During the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, the Jiuding Lingshan temple was built under the supervision of the general Yuchi Jingde. It was named "Zhaoming Temple" after its posthumous title because the eldest son of emperor Liangwu in the Southern Dynasty, Prince Zhaoming, had both ability and political integrity and was praised by the whole world.
In the Song Dynasty, in memory of Empress Dowager Gao, the mother of song Shenzong, who was born in Gaozhuang, Shili, Southeast of xiaojianji, the word "Dangyang" in her words "women's Dangyang is not the flourishing age of the country" was changed to "Dangyang Temple", which was destroyed in the war.
At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, the statues and houses were seriously damaged;
In 1784, Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, and 1888, Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, the "Dangyang Temple" was replaced by "Jiuding Lingshan Temple";
In the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, most of the walls of the temples collapsed, leaving only 13 dilapidated houses and no Buddha statue.
Renovation and reconstruction
In 1999, a Buddhist disciple named Shi Guoyue was appointed by the Jiuhua Mountain Buddhist Association to restore the temple. Over the past decade, 58 houses of various types have been built and 42 Buddha statues have been placed.
In 2002, the local government afforested and beautified Lingshan mountain and built a road to pass through the mountain. In the past, the barren mountain was green and full of vitality. In the same year, Jiuding Lingshan temple was officially opened to the public.
Structural style
The temple is of brick and stone structure, with three front main halls and a folded beam structure on the top of the hard mountain. The Zhuhong temple gate is in the middle, and it is the top of the buwache mountain. Above the lintel is inlaid with five characters of "Jiuding Lingshan Temple". The main ridge of this hall is decorated with brick relief. The relief in the middle of the front is the picture of the eight trigrams of Taiji, with lotus patterns on both sides. There are statues of Guan Gong and Erlang in the East and west of the hall. The main hall is a cantilever structure on the top of a hard mountain. The main ridge is decorated with brick carvings, and the front is embossed with pictures of two dragons playing with pearls. In the middle of the ceremony, there is a statue of "Xuantian God". There is a small well under the seat of Xuantian God, which is called "Haiyan" by local people. There are iron statues of dragon subduing and tiger subduing in the East and west of the main hall, one with green dragon in arm and the other with white tiger on foot. The back hall is a cantilever structure on the top of a hard mountain. It has a clear tile roof, a ridge made of grey bricks, a eaves made of tiles, and no decoration or carving. Inside the hall, there are Guanyin and Dou Zhenge, and the main hall is a rigid peak suspended beam structure. The characteristics of Jiuding Lingshan temple are: strong Taoist color, general architectural style, statue establishment and sculpture
Patterns and other aspects can prove this. This reflects the historical background of mutual absorption and reference between Buddhism and Taoism after the yuan and Ming Dynasties.
Construction scale
