Sheshan is divided into East Sheshan and West Sheshan. The elevation is 98 meters and 97 meters respectively. It is the back garden of Shanghai and the holy land of Catholicism in Southeast Asia. The twelve peaks in the garden are like twelve Jadeites of different sizes, moving from southwest to northeast.
West Sheshan park is the best scenic spot with the largest area among the nine peaks in Yunjian. It is the site of Sheshan Catholic Church, the largest Catholic Church in the Far East, and Sheshan Observatory, the first Observatory in China. The tea garden on the southwest slope is the only "Shanghai Longjing" producing area.
Dongsheshan National Forest Park is famous for its beautiful mountains, lush trees and rich animal and plant resources, especially for its bamboo shoots with orchid fragrance.

Historical evolution
In June 1993, the State Forestry Ministry approved the establishment of Shanghai Sheshan National Forest Park.
By the end of 1994, Dongshe National Forest Park had begun to take shape.
By the end of 1998, scenic spots (spots) such as East Sheshan National Forest Park, West Yushan National Forest Park, Bainiaoyuan, Yushan cableway and Sheshan slipway were built and opened.

East Sheshan Garden
Dongsheshan garden is located 10.5km north of Songjiang, an ancient city in the suburbs. It is 35km away from the city center. The elevation of dongsheshan mountain is 74m, with a mountainous area of more than 800mu. The mountain is beautiful with lush trees and nine peaks. The mountain is rich in animal and plant resources. Animals are: Wild Sika deer, pangolin and more than 100 kinds of birds. Plants are: camphor, bamboo and other more than 2000 varieties.
West Sheshan Garden
The woodland area of Xishe mountain is more than 800 mu, with an altitude of 98.8 meters. The scenic spots in the park include: Catholic pilgrimage site, 14 statues of bitter Road on Jingzhe Road, xiudaozhe tower, congdaoren and Hushu Pavilion, etc. The famous Sheshan Observatory and seismological station are also located in West Sheshan. It is the best and most characteristic forest park among the nine peaks in Sheshan.
Tianma mountain garden
Tianma mountain garden is located in Tianma Town, ten miles southwest of Sheshan. With an altitude of 98.2 meters, Tianma mountain is the highest peak among the nine peaks, with a surrounding area of 2.5 kilometers and a mountainous area of about 1800 mu. In ancient times, there were many Vatican temples on the mountain, which were full of incense, so it was also called "Shaoxiang mountain".
Xiaokunshan Garden
Xiaokunshan garden is located in the northwest of Songjiang, about 10 kilometers away from Songjiang City, and is located at the southernmost end of Jiufeng. The mountain is 55 meters high, 1.5 kilometers around and covers an area of about 500 mu.

The Catholic Church is located in Xiyu mountain, covering an area of more than 70 mu. It was first built in 1874 of the Qing Dynasty. It was rebuilt and expanded in 1925, with a construction area of 1400 square meters. It is 38 meters high from the base to the spire of the cross, 56 meters long from east to west, 25 meters wide from north to south, with 3000 seats inside. It is known as "the first church in the Far East", which is the symbol of Yushan. The whole building has a unique shape, long in the South and short in the north, wide in the East and narrow in the west, round inside and sharp outside, stone inside and brick outside. The lobby is a mixture of various architectural styles: the vault and corridor are Romanesque; the pillars are Greek; the spire is Gothic; the olive shaped bell tower is Israeli; the small dome at the east end is Spanish; the water wall, bucket corner floor tiles and glazed tiles are Chinese.

The observatory is located in the east of the Catholic Church. It was built in 1899. The dome and 0.4m telescope were purchased from France. After liberation, it was attached to the ganzijinshan Observatory and was renamed the Sheshan station of Shanghai Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences since 1962. In 1987, a new miewen Observatory was built on the west side of the Catholic Church. The observatory is equipped with the largest optical telescope designed and manufactured by China, and a 25m Radio Telescope. It is one of the largest astronomical observation bases in China. The old Observatory is for visitors.
Landscape of Erlu thatched cottage
Erlu thatched cottage is actually a courtyard composed of two symmetrical buildings with white walls and black tiles, brick gate building and patio. There are Lu Ji, Lu Yun statue and so on. The traces of Erlu disappeared in the Tang Dynasty. Although the literati in the past dynasties presided over the repair many times, they were all destroyed by war. In 2002, special funds were allocated by the finance of Songjiang District to build and restore the "Erlu thatched cottage" on the site of the former residence of Erlu. Reading platform is located in the original Sizhou tower (Jiufeng Temple) slope, is a piece of 24 meters long, 8 meters wide flat. Behind the platform is a screen of stone walls, 6 meters high. It is said that after the death of Wu, the two Lu brothers retired from their hometown Xiaokunshan and studied behind closed doors for 10 years, leaving behind many cultural treasures.

Xiudaozhe tower, also known as "moon shadow tower", is located at the foot of the east slope of Xiyu mountain. It has seven octagonal stories and is of brick and wood structure, with a height of 20 meters. The tower was built during the reign of Taiping Xingquan in the Northern Song Dynasty (976-984). There are corridors around the tower base, and each floor of the tower has a small north-south gate. After years of disrepair, the tower ladder has been destroyed, the eaves and the tower base no longer exist, but the tower body is solid and impartial.
Sheshan monastery
Sheshan monastery is located at the foot of the southwest mountain. Xuanmiaozhuo temple, which was built in the second year of song Zhiping (1065), was destroyed before the Anti Japanese war. The monastery was built here in 1985 and became the cradle of Chinese Catholic priests. The monastery covers an area of about 13300 square meters, with a construction area of about 6000 square meters. The main buildings have Gothic style, reasonable layout and quiet environment.

During the period of Taiping and Xingquan in the Northern Song Dynasty (976-984). It is said that at that time, a monk named "Xiu" was practicing in Jielu near Chaoyin nunnery, known as xiudao. He raised money to build the tower. After the tower was completed, it set itself on fire, so it was named xiudaozhe tower. The original Pavilion near the tower is called Tiger tree Pavilion. According to the records of the clouds of the Southern Song Dynasty, in 978, a monk named de Cong came to Jielu to meditate. In 1017, the first year of Tianxi in the Northern Song Dynasty, his two tigers died at the same time. Later, two Ginkgo trees grew in the area, and a pavilion was built in between, which was named tiger tree Pavilion.
The jewel protecting tower, commonly known as the "Leaning Tower", is located on the right side of Zhongfeng in Tianyu mountain. It was built by Xu Wenquan, a native of Hengshan Township in 1079. In the 27th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1157), Emperor Gaozong granted five color Buddhist relics to be hidden in the pagoda. In the Qing Dynasty, Tianma mountain was still very popular. According to the records of Ming Zhai Xiao Zhi in the couplets of Qing Dynasty, the temple was built in 1788
