Baishitan square
Baishitan was the place where Emperor Qianlong watched the tide, and he left a poem: "the baishitai (altar) beside Zhenhai pagoda is the place where the tide is watched. The tide message from Tashan will arrive in a moment, and the Luocha river will flow backwards."
After the altar was destroyed, the baishitan square was rebuilt in 2002. It integrates large-scale festival activities, sightseeing, artistic performance, leisure and entertainment. It is a landmark landscape of the tide Resort Park. The annual international Qianjiang (Haining) tide watching Festival is held here.
The whole baishitan square is made of white marble. Walking up the steps, there is a delicate sign of tide carved in the middle. There are flower beds and a pool of water in the back. The flowers give off a charming fragrance, which is really refreshing. The water is so clear that you can see the pebbles at the bottom.
