Zhongshan Park is located on the Bank of Yuemei River in the urban area. It is one of the new Eight Sights in Shantou City. The total area is 20.18 hectares, including 3.6 hectares of Yujian lake. Shantou Zhongshan Park is a comprehensive park with the earliest history, the largest scale and profound historical and cultural connotation in eastern Guangdong, with a total area of 309 mu.

The park is surrounded by water and Yuemei river. Zhongshan Bridge, Yuemei bridge and Yingchun bridge connect the park with the urban land. Yujian Lake in the park covers an area of nearly 100 mu and is famous at home and abroad for its beautiful scenery.

The park is divided into East and west along the West Bank of Yujian lake.

Main attractions

In the East, there are five small islands, such as Guishan and Sheshan. There are eight bridges of different sizes and shapes, such as Jiuqu bridge, Bibo bridge, Zhanhong bridge, Hongqiao bridge, Huaiyin bridge, Yudai bridge, Huanhua bridge and dingshui bridge. Three wonders

The archway, rockery and Jiuqu bridge in the park are known as the "three wonders" in the park.

The archway is 18 meters high, with huge columns and green tiles. On the front of the archway, there are four embossed gold characters of "Zhongshan Park" written by Tan Yankai, and on the back, there are four embossed gold characters of "the world is for the public" written by Dr. Sun Yat Sen. Behind the archway stands a bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat Sen.

The three-story rockery on the east side of the archway covers an area of 1700 square meters. It is mainly made of sea stones and is made of fine artificial masonry. It is characterized by jagged rocks, circuitous paths, secluded walls and caves, and a panoramic view of the whole garden. At the bottom of the rockery, there is a relief mural showing the prosperity of Shantou in the 1930s, which has been listed in the municipal cultural relics protection unit.

Jiuqu bridge is located at the north end of Yujian lake, covering an area of 298 square meters. It is the largest Jiuqu bridge in China. The park has a long history and many historic sites. There are 11 pavilions, the largest and most important of which are Haoran Pavilion and Shengzhi Pavilion.

Haoran Pavilion, located in the north of the park's playground, is a rectangular pavilion with colored glass and blue tiles, full of national characteristics. The pavilion was built in 1932 and rebuilt in 1989 in memory of Lin xiuyong, member of the Standing Committee of the park planning committee. In 2009, a comprehensive renovation was carried out, and the environment of the scenic spot was comprehensively transformed and beautified to create a peach blossom forest landscape.

Located in the children's playground, Shengzhi Pavilion, built in 1931, is a 7-meter-high, hexagonal straight reinforced concrete Western-style Pavilion. It is built in memory of Shantou hydropower founder Mr. Gao Shengzhi's patriotic deeds in support of the 1911 Revolution and the achievements of local public welfare undertakings.

Guanhua Palace

Guishan

Located in the northeast of the park, Guishan was built in 1934, with a total area of 5400 square meters. It was built by digging lakes and piling mountains with lake mud. Guishan mountain is named because it looks like a turtle swimming in the lake. It looks like a turtle coming out of the water. It is adjacent to Sheshan mountain and is integrated with the landscape of Yujian lake. It complements each other and is full of Chinese classical garden charm.
